Remember seeing the full page "Lori Was Wrong" ad in the L.A. Times and it was intriguing and didn't reveal all the monsters. I thought Scream always used the original theatrical as the reverse.
In this case Clive Barker hated the theatrical poster. It was made by Fox when they were thinking they could make it out to be a slasher movie. He hated it so much that he went to Les Edwards and got him to make a new poster for the UK theatrical release, and that's being used as the cover of the regular Blu-ray. I was hoping the slasher poster would be somewhere just for historical purposes, but I can see it being banished from this release.

Interesting info. Be nice if it's the back cover of the booklet or an art card, like you say for historical purpose

I am not terribly impressed with the the specs of the LE; outside of the McQuarrie featurette, most of it sounds like screentests and other scraps which I find to be generally boring.

There's a very good chance that I will be canceling my pre-order for the LE and just picking up the regular release instead. I have it pre-ordered at Amazon at the $56 price, and will make my final decision when reviews start rolling out.

yeah I have to bail on the LE as well, even if I have the price locked in at $55.98. I get the feeling I'll never watch the Theatrical Edition, and the kind of Extras I wanted are on the regular version.

I agree with you, thinking of canceling my order too.

I'm wondering if it's going to turn out that this new cut is a mess and that the theatrical cut is preferable, that's another factor here. If reviews start coming out which agree there's no reason to ever watch the theatrical version again then I may cancel.

Well one thing that made me cringe a little was that there is a supposed musical number in the new cut? ...yikes...that part does worry me. That's one of the main reasons I am getting the Limited Edition because worst case scenario I will have the theatrical cut which I already know I enjoy.

I wonder where they derived their inspiration from?

If that's the case the director's cut turns out to be a big dud, I think I'd rather just cut my losses and buy the SE when I can get it for under $20. I already have the TC on DVD, and I'd probably just swap the TC DVD for the DC DVD in the case and that would be that.

Unless the reviews for the LE are stellar, I'll be canceling my pre-order. Luckily, Scream is shipping it out two weeks early so that should give ample time to decide whether or not to cancel the Amazon order.

After much thought, I went ahead and canceled the LE set. I'll be happy with the $24.99 version and can use the gift card from Amazon to pick up Pumpkinhead! I'm happy.

It's not like the cast is joining together for Cabaret, it's just Lori singing a song in a nightclub.

Kind of like Jennifer Connelly did in Dark City?

I'm okay with that, as long as she can actually sing and we don't get an obvious lip-synch/voice-over situation.

I've heard her singing and she has an amazing voice. She must have been in some musicals before she did Nightbreed.

Barker first talked about the musical number about 20 years ago. At the time I kind of hoped it would be Peloquin and Kinski with a musical rendition of "Meat For the Beast."

Like I said, whenever they have to add a disc for special features, the huge majority of times they go for a DVD.

You do realize that the only DVD in the Halloween collection is the Halloween 2 TV cut, which is natively SD? Even if they did put it on Blu-Ray, it'd just be a really horrible looking upconvert.

I didn't necessarily mean that she has to have a good singing voice (although, that would be nice), but I was referencing Jennifer Connelly in Dark City, because in the original theatrical cut of that film, they replaced her voice with another singer and it looks and sounds so obvious that it wasn't her. Then, when they released the director's cut, they replaced the scene with the proper audio track of Jennifer Connelly's actual voice and it makes all the difference for the better.

I know but that is just my own personal hatred of a movie including a musical number or a singing segment. I typically get easily bored and start checking my fake watch halfway through that stuff unless it is done in a joking way.

Well, other things are going on while Lori is singing. There is a cameo by Neil Gaiman in the crowd and Boone is dropping off a note. That ought to hold your interest for the song's 60 second or so duration.

If it's only a minute then that isn't bad. They made special mention of a musical number which made it seem like there was going to be a full song or god forbid...some kind of dancing. Haha. But if that is all it is like you said shouldn't be too terrible.
