Agreed, and I'm sure they will. Phase 4 will just have a new rosta for The Avengers, possibly with one or two (Thor, Hulk) of the original batch still around. I think it'll be a while before we see new Iron Man or Captain America actors - if Marvel want to keep this going then it makes sense to hold them back for a bit until they need to boost the franchise again.

thats what I assume too, but I'd rather they start Phase 4 with new characters rather than replace ones we already have.
I mean, a trilogy for each of the phase 2 characters should be enough

this!

have a phase or few before recasting, if they REALLY need to re-cast

though I'll not say not to another IM, Thor or CA movie (4 IM's and trilogy for the other 2...yes please )

Did Drew Pearce Reveal Joss Whedon as the Director of THE AVENGERS 3?

We’re still well over a year away from the second superhero team-up in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that doesn’t stop us from wondering about The Avengers 3. Before we get to worrying about who will star in it and which heroes will square off against which villains, we need to know just who will be writing and directing the damn thing. If a comment from screenwriter Drew Pearce during a recent interview is to be believed, Whedon might already be set to return for the third installment, possibly as both a writer and director.

During an interview with Movies.com in which he discusses Marvel’s creative process and the Easter Eggs hidden in his Iron Man 3 short, All Hail the King, Pearce casually mentions that Whedon is on board for Avengers 2 (which we know) and Avengers 3 (which we’ve only speculated about). Here’s the quote:

Quote:
Movies.com: Will we see some aftermath of this short at some point, either in the cinematic universe or Netflix or any of the other crazy things Marvel is cooking up?

Pearce: Honestly, it’s a question above my pay grade. One of the things when you’re a writer or director in the Marvel universe is you come in, you leave some tasty morsels dangling at the end, and maybe you’re the one who comes in and picks them up again next time, or maybe it’s someone else, or maybe they just hang there awhile and that’s fine too. Despite any cliffhanger-ness to the short, I also don’t feel like it’s unsatisfying. That’s all you can really hope to do. Unless you’re Joss [Whedon] and you’re making Avengers 2 and 3, and then you have a pretty good idea if you’re making the next one or not.
It may be an off-hand comment with no real meaning behind it, or it might be a slip of the tongue that reveals a truth. Hard to tell until we get an official word one way or the other. It would certainly make sense to keep Whedon in house, if only for story consistency. The Avengers: Age of Ultron might already be too big to fail, so keeping Whedon involved is about as low a risk as you can take. Let us know what you think about this possible turn of events in the comments, and be sure to check out the full interview with Pearce.

I think the studios should all get together and do Marvel Super Heroes: Secret Wars.

Good God, no. That's when Marvel was completely and irrevocably ruined.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Connected to AVENGERS 3

Thanks to Guard the Galaxy, we have not one, but three new Guardians of the Galaxy production stills from the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. Also featured in the magazine are quotes from James Gunn, who confirms Thanos will be motion-capture and "head of the snake" in the Marvel space epic. He also confirms that Guardians of the Galaxy is "definitely connected to Avengers 3." On Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, the director says "he was abducted from Earth (Missouri) at age 8 and raised in a group of thieves and smuggles called the Ravagers. He's good with the ladies and a little bit of a dick and very lucky." Gunn continued, "Thanos slaughtered [Gamora's] family and Nebula's, then raised them together as siblings. They were bio engineered to become living weapons, so he's really good at killing people." Interesting. What do you think?

I can't remember where I read this but somewhere I did read that Joss liked what they did on Cap America 2 so he decided to film the Avengers 2 in 2.39:1 instead of what he used in the first Avengers movie . Which I think was 1.85:1 , where a lot of the DC guys were complaining that it looked like a TV show . Oops I think I put this in the wrong Avengers thread lol .

All I know is that recasting, whenever they decide to do it for Phase 4 or sooner is going to suck since these actors have made the characters for so long. You can argue so many points here about fresh faces and welcomed change, but point is, in superhero movies and the people that go to the box office sometimes mainly to see just the actor portraying these iconic superheroes, well recasting them is gonna suck if they can't get any actors whose skills are worthy of the original. Whether it be Iron Man, Captain, Thor, or Hulk possibly, although 3 people have played him already and no body is terribly complaining about it, however changing faces with no explanation is a little annoying to me cause of continuity issues even if ever so slight just cause of a face, it's still a different actor. Box office revenue may fail for Marvel when this does happen, or may not sway their earnings at all. It all comes down to the actor they cast of course for their future franchises, but it has me worried without a doubt.

I'm not worried about castings as Marvel has proved they can do that.

They did it the first time around, and those actors have become iconic with those roles obviously. So we don't know if they can deliver the second time around now do we? Still some doubt in the air that will linger on that until the time comes for it to be answered.

Guardians of the Galaxy to Play ‘Significant’ Role in ‘Avengers 3′?

Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) might have given us this generation’s answer to Han Solo, and Groot (Vin Diesel) may have danced his way into our hearts, but Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) was another one of the many positives featured in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Bautista obviously had the physique to handle the film’s action sequences, but he also possessed an uncanny sense of comedic timing – allowing the character to (literally) become a walking meme machine.

With the film earning rave reviews from critics and rising up the charts to become the highest-grossing movie of the year domestically, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Marvel is looking forward to giving audiences more Guardians. A sequel has already been slated for a July 2017 release, and if a new report is to be believed, the lovable rogues could be joining Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a crossover that would break the Internet.

The wrestling site PW Mania did a breakdown on Bautista’s new role in the MCU (he was a wrestler prior to becoming Drax), and in it, they say that the studio is in the process of restructuring his deal due to the success Guardians saw. Bautista will obviously be back on board for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but this article also notes that his contract includes a “significant” role in The Avengers 3.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumblings of a Guardians/Avengers team-up. Shortly after Marvel’s space odyssey broke August box office records, director Gunn mentioned that he’s talked about the “possibilities” of a crossover with the powers that be at Marvel Studios. He went as far to say that since the two groups exist in the same universe, they would be, “likely… to run into each other.”

At first glance, the cosmic Guardians and Earth-bound Avengers don’t seem to have that much connective tissue, but there is one major thread in the MCU that could tie everything together: The Mad Titan, Thanos. Josh Brolin’s villain is slowly being revealed to be the big bad to threaten the world in The Avengers 3 and Guardians already showcased his connection to those characters. It’s very much in the realm of possibility that all the heroes will join forces to take Thanos down.

It’s been rumored that Avengers 3 won’t be in theaters until 2018 at the earliest, so if this dream team was to come into fruition, we still have years to wait. That said, Marvel allegedly has their cinematic universe planned out through 2028 – meaning that they’re already taking a hard look to the future. If the discussions Gunn’s been having are really taking place, it’s likely that this is one of the projects on the table.

As fans of both Guardians and The Avengers, we can only hope that’s the case. With so many fan-favorite characters to feature, there will no doubt be many memorable scenes; both in action terms and character interactions. Knowing Marvel’s humor gene, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a bit where Captain America teases Star-Lord about his pop culture knowledge.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be in theaters July 27, 2017.

The Avengers movie was an awesome time at the theater. I'm sure Avengers 2 will be as well. But this kinda makes Avengers 3 seem epic, yah?

You're right...He's not. He has handled ensembles better than Snyder has, in my opinion. Every one of his shows has been an ensemble. Why even bring Snyder up in this discussion? It has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
