If it gets too bad, I will just switch over to the Houston@BYU game on ESPN. BYU should slaughter them, but at least I will be able to enjoy some football in peace.

So does the AFC North already lead the league in player suspension, by game, after 1 week?

But, they do get Breast Cancer awareness.... How Comforting !!

Man Up NFL, and dump the Breast Cancer Feel-Good dance, and make Domestic Violence Awareness your Signature Campaign.

That probably wouldn't fit your Business Model, would it?? I say, Make It Fit, you hypocrites!
Whether or not Goodell saw the video shouldn't matter. If you're the leader of a group this huge and something this major is in house and not sent to you, that is your fault for not properly training your staff on what should be done in these situations.

Oh come on, are you saying every CEO in the country should step down under these exact circumstance. My goodness, there would be a run on CEO's!

Clearly you do not like Roger Goodell, you've made that abudantly clear.
How about just let the investigation do it's thing, and then pass judgement. Not before?

How have I made that clear? For the NFL owners (you know, the people that employ Goodell), this is a major embarassment, and Goodell is responsible for it. If your chain of command doesn't have you at the top, it's your fault. It's what the NCAA likes to call "lack of institutional control".

You've made it clear, because you've bashed Goodell in every post you've made about this.
But he hasn't done anything wrong yet. This is why we investigate things, before passing judgement over the "smell test".

And I'm quite sure the owners thank Goodell quite a bit. He has made them quite rich, in a very short amount of time during his tenure.

So because I think Goodell has seriously messed up in this one case, I don't like Goodell? I liked Vick, but I still think he should have gone to jail and been fired.

As ChadFL said earlier, only an incompetent commish would have the league at a lower level than Goodell. The entire sports market has exploded. Notice that a MLB and a NBA team both just sold for 2 billion dollars. Goodell didn't have jack to do with those, and he doesn't have jack to do with the increase in NFL revenues.

The NFC East easily leads in games suspended. They've got Brandon Meriweather suspended for 2 games, Jakar Hamilton, Eric Herman, Lane Johnson, Orlando Scandrick and Jayron Hosley suspended 4 games, Josh Brent suspended for 10 games, and Tanard Jackson suspended for the season.

Of course he does. He is the one that signs off, with the owners, the deals that bring in the money: Fox, CBS, Directv, Nike, etc etc.
Then he navigated the almost impossible "nobody wins" concussion lawsuit. That could have been much, much, worse.
He's brought a much needed no tolerance policy that has set the tone for troublemakers.
I'm not saying the guy is perfect, but he's definitely accomplished quite a bit in his tenure.
Which is why I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, that he was trying to be light on Ray Rice and risk a massive NFL coverup...but we'll just see what the investigation turns up.
I'd be amazed if Goodell isn't annocing (insert last place team here) is on the clock, to kick off the 2015 NFL Draft.

He's completely shot any credibility his "no tolerance policy" had.

Per Adam Schefter:

Quote:
Both sides, NFL and NFLPA, hoping to finalize a new drug policy tonight in which suspensions will wind up being overturned.
Sounds like Josh Gordon will be suspended 6-10 weeks. Don't know if that's 6-10 more weeks, or if he gets time served. Of course, this is still speculation, but Scheftie seems to know what's up.

Quote:
Per Schefter, the NFL and NFLPA are hoping to finalize a new agreement by Thursday evening. It's suspected Wes Welker's ban will be wiped out, but Gordon's case is trickier since his positive test came during the 2013 league year. At the end of the day, we're unlikely to know Gordon's fate before the league makes an official announcement. There's simply too much conflicting information right now.

Want to talk about bad credibility explain to me why the Panthers owner breaks down talking about domestic violence during an interview yet Hart is being allowed to suit up this week in the NFL after he beat his woman this summer on a couch with loaded guns. Goodell and the Panthers should be ashamed. He has lost any and all credibility and needs to be gone.

Where's the investigation into how the legal system failed here and fails on numerous domestic violence cases?

They get as free pass it seems. But the NFL commissioner? He has to face all this bullshit. This world isn't very logical sometimes.

Exactly! Has the Atlantic County Prosecutor's office hired a new staff yet?
Rice was facing 3-5yrs, upwards of $15k fine, and that office let him go with court-supervised counsiling.

Funny how folks scream for Goodell's head, yet totally ignore the office that, most likely, could've altered this whole debacle.

I guess we'll be hearing all about it during tonight's game, in between plays.

That's being discussed as well. New Jersey state senators are discussing legislation to change the penalties for these cases.

Except he wasn't actually facing any of that. At worst, he would have gotten probation.

Quote:
“Even if they disagree with why I did what I did, I just want people to know the decision was made after careful consideration of the law, careful consideration of the facts, hearing the voice of the victim and considering all the parameters,” he said. “I want people to have confidence in this agency, even if they don’t agree with everything we do.”

Rice was charged with third-degree aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Third-degree charges — especially for someone like Rice with no criminal record — carry a presumption of no incarceration.

To result in a second-degree aggravated assault charge, a crime has to involve “serious,” or permanent, bodily injury. There is no first-degree charge of aggravated assault.

“People need to understand, the choice was not PTI versus five years’ state prison,” McClain said. “The choice was not PTI versus the No Early Release Act on a 10-year sentence. The parameters as they existed were: Is this a PTI case or a probation case?”

But state Senate President Steve Sweeney said the law needs to be changed.

“If everything was done by the book, that means we need to fix our domestic abuse laws,” said Sweeney, who has called for an attorney general review of the decision.

“My whole point is not to criticize the prosecutor but to focus on what happened with the system,” he said. “If this is the system our prosecutors and judges are forced to live with, we need to change it.”

...

In looking at the case, Rice had no prior criminal history, no history of domestic violence and a long-established career that included public service. He also entered into therapy voluntarily, although likely at the direction of his lawyer, McClain said.

Probation would have been about two years — twice as long as the 12-month PTI program Rice was given. But, in either case, Rice would be able to clear his record if he had no more problems, he said.

Still, McClain admits he was “on the fence until very late in the deliberative process.”

Then, he asked himself one question: “If this wasn’t Ray Rice. If this wasn’t a public figure. If this were some relatively anonymous person who had all the attributes that he had, where the situation was just the same as was present here, what would you do?”

The answer, he said, was PTI.

“Just like it is not just or fair to go easier on somebody because of who they are, neither is it fair or just to go heavier on somebody because of who they are,” McClain said. “I felt, and still feel, this disposition was appropriate.”

Additionally, it's near impossible to prosecute when the victim refuses to testify.
