Most likely it would be your favorite film or one of your favorites that got botched in prior releases so you need to upgrade till they get it right

This is really a "what's your favorite film" thread

Mine is probably the first "Back to the Future" film, or the original "Star Wars" trilogy. I bought several VHS copies of both as a kid, then the DVDs, and now Blu-rays.

I wanted to know how many times did you buy the same movie. I remember reading about someone who had a HUGE collection only of Titanic movies, different versions, etc.

Maybe i didn't explain this right.

Haha awesome!

Mine is actually Rob Zombie's Halloween - not because it's my favourite film (though I do love all the Halloween films), it's because of the different cuts!

Theaterical DVD
Unrated 3-Disc DVD
Unrated 2-Disc Blu-ray
Theatrical Halloween/Halloween II Double Feature Bluray
Theatrical German Blu-ray
Unrated bluray included in the upcoming Box Set

Mine is definitely Halloween.

VHS (Blockbuster release)
DVD (Lenticular cover)
Blu-ray (2007 release)
Blu-ray (2013 U.S. release)
Blu-ray (2013 U.K steel book release)
Blu-ray (Upcoming box set release)

I'm pretty sure I had another VHS release as well that had the TV cut but my memory is somewhat hazy about that.

Damn, where to begin!

I have bought EVERY release of Jurassic Park and the sequels. It's my favorite franchise so I have the VHS, Laserdisc, DVDs, Blu-rays, & 3D Blu-ray. Even the re-releases if I find 'em cheap.

The Dark Knight Trilogy & Watchmen too. I've bought just about every release. So yeah, I have a problem

My most purchased movie is definitely Back to the Future.

-DVD trilogy
-Blu-ray collector's tin (UK)
-Blu-ray Steelbook (Spain)
-Blu-ray Steelbooks (Japan)
-VHS trilogy set (UK)
-BETA
-Laserdisc trilogy box set (Japan)
-VHD (Japan)
-Video CD trilogy set with slip cover

Just need to find that pesky CED. And I eventually want to get the Japanese 20th anniversary DVD set... And maybe the German trilogy Steelbook... And whatever special edition is bound to come out in 2015

Jaws.

VHS.
DVD.
Steelbook Blu-ray.
Digibook Blu-ray.

Normally if a digi and a steel are available, I'll choose one or the other. But Jaws is my favorite movie and the steel and the digi were equally nice, so I splurged and got both.

At this point Oldboy.

First I got the 3-Disc tin dvd set.

Then I got the Vengeance Trilogy Blu-ray and given the missing audio I got a free copy of the original release from Tartan.

Now I'll probably end up getting the new remastered release and if there are some features that aren't subtitled and Tartan gives that a rerelease I'll get that as well.

Although I've re-bought many of the Bond films over the years due to format changes, I'd maybe say Tomorrow Never Dies? I bought it on previously viewed VHS at first, then I upgraded to DVD soon after and bought the original vanilla DVD release, then the Special Edition with the silver "metallic" cover art, then the re-released Special Edition which was the same disc just repacked to match the rest of the series, then I sold my Special Edition sets to get the Ultimate Editions, then the blu-ray. Plus along the way I found a VHS gift set for $2 in a dump bin in a grocery store and bought it just for the goodies that it came with.

Probably Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Jaws of which I've owned numerous VHS copies, Laserdiscs, different releases on DVD, and now Blu-ray.
