Default Should this bother me?

I wanted to reach out to fellow collectors to see how they feel about this. I just got into collecting steelbooks and I just won this off of eBay.

[Show spoiler]

It was packaged wonderfully but the upper left hand corner is kind of bothering me. I know things will not be fully perfect and I was wondering what you guys would do. There were plenty of pics but the angle never showed that little dent in the slipcase.

Just wanted to know if I was crazy lol. There is a return policy with the seller as well.

Thanks!

Only you can answer that question. For what it's worth, I bought 2 from the GB here and 1 of them came with a similar corner....maybe they roughed up quite a few at the factory and this is common?

I am curious though, you said there were plenty of pics but none had a picture of that corner? Seems to me it would be hard to get a pic of the front without it?

I agree with Lizard. You're the only one that answer your question. It doesn't look too bad to me, but I'm only looking at a picture.

Bought an expensive Rush Full Slip lately, showing similar "problems". The sellers should mention such defects, but nevertheless it does not bother me too much. Keep on collecting.

It's happened to me as well with hmv capt america. Had a massive set of scratches on it which wasn't listed seller listed it as in good condition. It wasn't good and I managed to get my money back on it

I know how you're feeling. Picked up a sealed A Nightmare On Elm Street steelbook on eBay, advertised as perfect. It arrived yesterday with a dimple in the front of the steel that is small, but still noticeable and it's driving me crazy. Also, it looks to me as though it was opened and resealed. I'm unsure how I'll handle it. But I'm not happy.

Rule of thumb, if you're extremely OCD and buying on ebay...it's been my experience that if the listing goes into great detail about how "mint" it is, instead of just saying something generic like "great condition", you are probably buying from someone just as OCD who does a good job of listing any/all imperfections. Definitely not always the case, but more times that not this is what I've noticed.
I would say you could ask for super close up photos, and even more detailed description...but now I'm starting to see listing pop up that clearly state: No OCD buyers!
With all that said, just do as much investigating as you can, and hope for the best.

This is really good advice. I will also say in a lot of these circumstances, the seller isn't trying to deceive you, they probably just have a lower level of anal retentiveness and genuinely didn't view the minor imperfections as damaged goods. I thought I was fairly OCD about condition until I sold off my Nike sneaker collection (all brand new in the box) last year. It was a crash course on people's expectations to say the least.

Yea I now see that different people have different standards when it comes to things. The listing was described as "collectors grade mint condition" and all they sell are steelbooks and such. To him, that dent might be nothing, just part of the packaging but to others its an eyesore lol. I have however received worse from eBay, maybe I should count myself lucky lol

Unless you really want it then I would return it.
I don't like having crushed corners on my slipboxes. If the seller said it was supposed to be in good condition and you don't feel that it is then return it.

Not much man. Yeah that would have bothered me about the crushed slipbox. But if I knew I would never be able to get another copy then I guess I would have kept it. Since you are able to return it that is a good thing.
At least you got that much. Some members haven't been so lucky on ebay.

if it was advertised mint with no dents then I would definitely contact the seller... good thing is those small dings on the corner, like yours, can be fixed fairly easily as compared to one in the middle... you can probably fix it and no one would ever know and obtain a partial refund from the ebay seller, that's what I would do

It depends on how much you paid and how it was advertised. If you didn't pay too much I don't see it as a problem. Actually, it's a very cool looking steelbook. I hadn't seen that one yet.

If I ordered something labeled Mint and payed accordingly it better be Mint. If its New or Like New and I got a good price I just live with it or resell it. Not everyone who is selling things would notice things we might notice. When I go to say Target to pick up a new release it takes me at least 10 mins to pick out the one with the best slip. Lol. The people that work there must think I am crazy!
