Will the extended cut of Halloween use the Dean Cundey transfer?

It uses the 2013 transfer with DTS MA 5.1 audio only (no original mono).

They fixed the mono issue.

We're not certain yet. But the fellow was talking about the extended version on the bonus disc, which doesn't have the mono track.

-If they wanted to cut corners then they should have released it as a smaller set, with less packaging, using slim cases or multiple discs in the same case.

-It can be harder for the cover to hold the shape leading to the cover getting damaged and "dented in".

-They can also damage the discs sometimes.

-The entire concept of them as being "eco-friendly" disgusts me as well. They do nothing to help the environment. The only thing they help is costs savings and shipping prices of those who produce and ship them to customers. Those savings are never passed on to the consumers, and if they were it still wouldn't be worth the tiny possible savings to me. The "eco" in eco-friendly really means economic-friendly for the producers, not environment.

I'm sure there are other reasons.
Don't forget how these cases wrinkle and mangle the disc artwork as well.

It's not there on the Extended Cut specifically. That's confirmed. DTS MA 5.1 only.

Also, I found a (too brief) unboxing video. I asked him to do a longer one:

I've been excited for this, so no way it sits on my shelf untouched for a week. But I also don't want to burn through the set before even halfway through October.

I plan to go through each film in order, and stretch it out from September 23 - October 31st, so I can enjoy it all month long instead of binging. I'll watch the film, tackle that film's bonus features, then repeat with the next film. Starting with Halloween '78 and going in order through RZHalloween II is a good way to ensure I don't miss any extras.
Jumping into the Producer Cut of 6 right away (never seen it), along with H2O and its bonus features.

Otherwise, wait until October

I'll scan through each disc quickly once I get the set, but after that, I'm waiting until Halloween morning. I'm starting at 9am and getting a bunch of red bull and pizza and marathoning 1-10. I just want to know if I can do it. lol

I still don't get why Amazon hasn't lowered the price on this one. I called them earlier this morning to inform them of the price on Amazon.ca to see if they would price match it. They wouldn't. I cancelled my order and placed it with Amazon.ca instead.

I have Amazon Prime and live in the USA, so even with free shipping my total for the US set was 118.96 + 6.30 tax = 125.26. I ordered from Amazon.CA and it came to: 89.12 + 9.36 shipping = 98.48 US dollars. So I saved $26.78 by getting it from another country....

I wish the amazon.com would just lower it to around the $90 mark. Oh well....

I might have to get some Surge to go with the 90's nostalgia of H6 and H20.

Sometimes you have to pick and choose your battles with them. Another 20% percent off or so on a huge set like this is a battle worth undertaking I would say.
That makes sense. I've never been a Prime member, but I have ordered with them since about 2000, I've never asked for a price match on anything before, and I've probably only returned 3 or 4 things in the last 15 years. It probably makes it worth it to them to do a "one time exception," in that case vs. someone who has less than 10 orders lifetime and has made multiple requests before.

I wouldn't have bothered if it was $5 or less. Heck, I didn't get the free one day shipping that many have talked about getting. But, there was no way I was letting $30 go. That's roughly 2 more blu-rays I could buy.

Sorry, I wasn't clear; I was saying it hasn't been confirmed one way or the other for the theatrical version, but that the extended cut won't have it.

now you know what its like for a canadian shopping in the online world!! :P

i'm in canada and most of the time i order stuff from the american amazon and despite them charging me shipping and a duty charge and then the exchange rate on top....its often still much cheaper than buying it from the canadian site.

its crazy how ripped off we are when it comes to this sorta stuff. its why when i see americans complain that they paid 20 dollars for a new release movie, i'm often like "damn, over here thats a deal". lol

Yeah, that was lame. He is pulling things out as if we are supposed to see them when he doesn't even put them in front of his phone to record it.

Yeah, if I went out of my way to make an unboxing video, I'd certainly be a bit more thorough than that with it. But that's me.
