Either should be fine as that decision would have to be made by you.

I would download the user manual for each and visit your local shop for comparison purposes to see which one appeals to you.

Then order that one from Multi Region Magic.

thanks for the help

personally i dont hate samsung products even though i have one but rather prefer Lg equipment i guess its a personal thing lol

but i think ill look into the sony modded player ..cant see any sony equipment being cheap and nasty even their mid range gear so ill lean towards that.

thanks again.

I'm tempted to get a Sony Blu-Ray player modified from Multiregion Magic. Can anyone recommend them? From having a quick browse, they appear to be a good company. It works out cheaper to buy the player I want and send it to them to modify, instead of getting it direct from them. But will this be covered by any kind of warranty or are you screwed if the player breaks 2 months later?

Their T&Cs say they offer a 1-year warranty on all new products (similar to the base warranty at 220, WI & Bombay here in the States), so it might be safer to buy a pre-modded player from them directly. Since hardware mods essentially void the factory warranty, it's important that the seller stand behind any issues that come up with the player for at least the first year; that may be why the big U.S. modders don't offer after-the-fact mods like MRM. Still, MRM is the only UK hardware modder I've heard of with a decent reputation, which automatically gives them a leg up for Brits over 220/WI/Bombay (no international shipping charges, no HMRC duties, VAT built into the price).

Might be a dumb question but looking on this website seems to be the cheapest option for region free players. Question though, so if I just never allow my player to access the internet, I have no risk of losing the region free coding, right?

if you mean MRM then yes you have no problems of losing the region free capabilities if connected to the internet.

the region free capability is made possible via a chip (ICOS modification) which is installed on the players main board, this governs the regions so even if you update the firmware or the player is connected to the internet it wont do anything to remove the region free capability.
they also provide region free firmware updates for all the players on their website should you need to update.

i just purchased a Sony BDP-S5500 to add to my other 2 BD players and apart from the basic aesthetics** Overall i am impressed...still cant believe how small these are lol

**last year sony were building a lot of models made from mostly metal, this year it would seem its entirely plastic like a lot of samsung players.
