From what I've read there's just a random chance of them coming up every time you return a bounty.

UGH still haven't gotten a Legendary and I am Level 22 now.

I farmed the gate on the Dark Beyond mission last night and finally picked up a legendary scout rifle. I ended up with 59 deaths and over 2,000 kills before it finally popped up.

I also farmed the cave on earth. I got a legendary after about 20 minutes but I had to go back to my ship twice because of some moron dancing in front of the cave. The 3rd time I went there ended up being 6 of us there and we were kicking greens and blues about every other shot.

I almost got my cryptroll to level 8 after all of the blues I cashed in.

I'm still on level 3 of the cryptarch. And that annoys me. On the plus side, it's an easy way to level up my second subclass's abilities.

Yeesh. My Craptarch is still Level 1. I'm level 18 and traded in all of my green engrams, but I refuse to give him the single blue engram I have. Until I'm level 20 and he's level 2 or 3.

Jafo told me in game the Trollarch max rank is 30, so for those of you under 10, I suggest you go farm earth cave and trade in the rares to him and store any legendaries till your rank gets higher. You'll get something in the post for every rank too which could be a legendary engram.

I also just got to faction rank 3 and they gave me 1 strange coin. 100 faction rep and a legendary fusion rifle.

Its a grind but keep at it guys.

did some farming on the moon mission and got 2 blues.


should i join one of the factions or stick with vanguard?

Finshed Mars last night.... I think. So that unlocked The Reef. Is that the expansion later on or do I have to do something in order to play there?

Nope. The game is over.

The grind on this game is really stupid. Previously it was RPG light, then all of a sudden it springs hours and hours of grinding on you. Barf.

It's funny how cranky another fire team gets if you plop down in front of the cave and screw up the farming they feel they (and only they) are entitled to.

I have to play around with that cave more - it seems like there should be a fairly reliable way to trigger the insanity spawns. Haven't looked at the videos but as far as I can tell you've got the 2 fallen and 1 hive spawn in the area and if you clear they out you can basically get them to re-pop reliably.

Where it gets really interesting is when it starts spawning the shielded hallowed knights and hallowed wizards. If you can be in or at the mouth of the cave for those, killing them before they leave guarantees an immediate respawn of those. It also seems like if you can get the higher level Hive mobs to pop, the Fallen by the helicopters respond in kind - this seemed key (at least to me) as it seems like the place where I got the legendary engrams was the fallen servitor that popped up. Lots of good farming in general, but the purples seemed to be tied to the fallen servitor.

I'm going to have to play around with it more with a fire team. Most are just trying to sit back and gun down the hive cave and let others clear out the other mobs for them, but I think planting one team member at the copters and the fallen cave, on on the nearby roof with line of sight to the building above the Hive cave, and one at the Hive cave may make it easier to try and provoke the higher level spawns - and then take out the Servitor also.

I do know that the further back you are the faster they spawn. We had them spawning so fast last night I barely had time to reload my scout rifle. It had to look funny with 6 guardians level 24-27 standing on a hill shooting into a cave.

I got my purple from a thrall coming out of the cave. It was the 1st one I have had there though. RNG

wow this topic moves fast! I'm looking for more people to add me on PSN. soundwave628. so far i see two from this topic added me. I'm a level 19 hunter with ok gear I suppose. looking to do PvE, Raids and crucible. People who use a mic preferred, nothing like a MMO type game with no communication!

Finally became Level 20. I had only found 2 rare weapons (both substantially less than my equipped uncommons) up onto that point, but once I hit 20 I had 4 immediately useful rare drops (hand cannon, headgear, boots & sniper rifle) within 2 missions.

Still working on Light, and joined the FWC faction.

Sidebar, I discovered (which, Im sure, many of you knew, but for those PvP rookies among us like me) that hand cannon + shotgun is key for the Crucible. My first Crucible match, I used auto rifle + sniper rifle for a 5:9 ratio, my 2nd switched to HC + shotty for 12:12 and the lead in points (Control match) and good drops.

The Sahara-AR3 is still my autorifle of choice for PvE, it's literally a mini-machine gun.

But I'm assuming those were the normal mobs, right? Acolytes and Thralls?

Something triggers the shielded knights, wizards, and servitor across the way - just trying to figure out if that's just a timed event, a trigger, or a penalty for trying to squat a spawn that is intended to kick you off it.

As far as I can see, this is like an MMO where you have to "tag" a mob. Meaning this farming is going to get ugly when you have solos or more than one fireteam. Two fire teams might work ok as long as at least one person from both teams tag a decent amount of the mobs, but when people use heavy weapons and kill them all with one shot you shouldn't be seeing engrams drop if they aren't in your group - unless I'm missing something?

I actually agree, which is why I traded in my copy. I just have too many games and too little free time to concentrate on something not paying off. This is one of the more disappointing games I've ever played, given the marketing and hype it received. I enjoyed the beta, but I don't really the see the point in continuing to level up. It just seems so hollow. It's on me, but I used that $40 I got and put it towards something else.

I'm really enjoying the game despite the lacking story. No biggie. I'm more of an online gamer and now that I'm pretty decent, I can actually challenge myself in Crucible and improve kill/death ratio . This is my personal favorite for FPS right now. Beats Wolfenstein easily for me. I see Crucible as the replay value for this game.


On a side note, out of the dozens of questions I've been posting. The strike playlists stages changes on a daily basis right? I don't want to keep playing the same boss over and over again. Then again I need those Vanguard Marks so I'll do what it take.s

About ever 30 minutes they show up for the public event. Fought them off twice. It's the protect the war sat one. But yeah, a couple of wizards a servitor and knights.

I'm pretty sure the ones spawning in the Hive cave are not tied to the event. Yeah, you get them (minus the servitor) from the drop ships while defending the warsat, but I'm pretty sure the ones in the cave aren't part of that.

They still may be some sort of event timer, but I know the two times I got them to spawn were at least 10-15 minutes away from the closest event start.
