At the very least it would allow the New Republic eons before anyone without the knowledge of the Jedi or Sith to ever get as powerful again. I am assuming without a teacher you could NEVER reach close to your full potential. Thus it would take untrained Force Users forever to get anywhere near as powerful as Vader or the Emperor.

If anything the prequels and Clone Wars taught us that the Jedi were corrupt and so too were the Sith. I am sure Luke knows this, and has decided to let the Jedi order die with him.

But his assumptions are wrong. The Sith somehow return, and he comes to realize that the Jedi order must also return to keep the peace.
I didn't see how the Jedi were corrupt. They just weren't very smart. They actually came off as pretty stupid considering the Empire was built right under their noses.

It seems to me for the Jedi order to keep the peace, it has to be established before there's a threat, otherwise it's too late. I also never gathered that anyone was afraid of passing on the knowledge of the force. It's a legacy that should be honored by passing it on and a way to teach people to control it, who are strong with it. Like Professor X does with mutants.

Please know I'm not arguing or debating you. Just an exchange of ideas.

The Clone Wars showed a lot of Jedi corruption.

I just think that Luke will still need character development. Especially if he is one of the main characters. I think him going from rogue loan Jedi to teacher, might be amazing adventure and show us how great he is. Realizing the true power of the Jedi is numbers over the Sith is another learning lesson for him possibly.

Anakin was being played and he didn't even know it, so a lot of his actions up to ROTS have been noble in spirit. When he becomes Vader, his actions become selfish (because he wanted to save Padme), and like the Emperor, he didn't care for the government. He became Palpatine's puppet to eliminate all threats; nothing the two of them did was to "save" the government, but to corrupt it for personal gains.

Even if you make the argument that the Emperor and Vader are on the defensive, they didn't need to go so far as killing younglings and purging the Jedi Order (we all saw how Palpatine used Mace Windu so sucker everybody else; that was a BS excuse to eliminate another threat). The Jedi themselves were there to defend the Republic; their overthrow came because they were seen as an actual threat, but because they were more casualties in the rise of an oppressive dictatorship (just like in history).

Above all, the morality of killing and purging entire people as a means to an end (even galactic peace) is highly debatable. At least the Jedi sought compromise when they could; the Emperor just crushed everything.
did you mean Palpatine toyed with Mace Windu, pretended to be helpless so the first thing anakin saw when he entered the room was a big strong jedi with weapon drawn standing over a poor old man begging for his life?

if so cool. Sidious needed to get anakin to fully strike out in anger, like he tried with luke in ROTJ, to complete his transition to the dark side. so many blind jedi lovers think Mace Windu beat Sidious but Sidious beat 3 jedi knights and a master basically in a minute or so. not many people want to believe that lol.

anyway, i'm just saying since jedi were trained to destroy Sith i don't see what the problem is with Sith destroying jedi.

Let's leave Palpatine out of this (flashbacks and references would be okay though as he can remain dead that way) and give us some new Sith. There's plenty of potential there.
yeah i guess i can agree with that

In terms of new powers, if Palpatine was to return, I harken back to the last words of Yoda, "Do Not Underestimate the Powers of the Emperor". I just want to see him regain his Empire, tear the galaxy a new one and see a new group attempt to bring him down. He is such a masterful character one of cinema's greatest villains and if done right, will add to his legacy of Evil!

If I can't get Palpatine, bring on Darth Plageus.
well he defeated 3 jedi knights and toyed with Mace Windu so i liked it but i agree with everything else you said

I don't believe that he toyed with him, he was legitimately defeated during the lightsaber duel. Yeah he faked being weak but I don't think that discounts that Mace legitimately disarmed him.

I love the idea of Luke becoming a hermit like Ben. Being a powerful jedi is a curse, the darkside never stops trying to take over, and they have to hide.

That's not to imply I don't want to see Luke kick some serious ass at some point.

Star Wars Episode 7: Anthony Daniels Talks About His New C-3PO Suit

We know that Andy Serkis‘ performance capture studio The Imaginarium is heavily involved in JJ Abrams‘ Star Wars Episode VII, but we never considered to ask if classic characters like C-3PO would be computer animated or played by a man-in-suit. Well, apparently when JJ Abrams first called Anthony Daniels, he asked the British actor to voice our favorite protocol droid in the new series. As you know, Daniels not only voiced the character but played the droid on screen in a tightly created armored costume in the original trilogy, although the character was heavily CG animated in the prequels. So is C-3PO a performance capture computer animated creation in Episode 7? Find out the full story of the new C-3po Episode 7 suit, after the jump.

The following bit comes from Anthony Daniels in-depth interview with Entertainment Weekly. Here is what Daniels said about the new film:

Quote:
I will tell you that when [director] J.J. Abrams rang me to ask about filming Episode VII, one of the first things he said after he told me how wonderful I was — and that didn’t take long — but he then said, “Would you be interested in being in the film just doing the voice?” I said, “No,” and he said, “Right!” He knew I’d say that. There’s no way I would just do the voice. I also said that it can’t be the same suit. I will tell you that the team then got together and built a new suit. They made an entirely new look-a-like with changes that you will never notice [on screen] that made my life a lot easier. I can get it on and off very quickly. [During the prequels], the only time [Threepio has] been CG was when it was very dangerous [to act in the scene in a suit] — and it wasn’t very good. In fact, I’m going to say it was awful. One of the difficulties is with a character that you know and love so well is that, as a member of the audience, you go, “Oh no, that’s not right. No, he doesn’t move like that.” With me [in the suit], he’s always going to move the same way and have the same reactions, timing, and so on. With CG, you’re working with some brilliant person on the keyboard who is trying to pretend to be me. The only time that has worked without doubt is Disney’s Star Tours: The Adventures Continue [theme park ride]. There’s an element in the pre-show which is digital and I cannot tell it’s not me. It’s brilliantly done by Disney. In a cartoon series like Rebels, you accept it because it’s not trying to pretend to be reality. It’s an extension, it’s an exaggeration. On that basis, it’s utterly acceptable — providing the characterization is correct.
So of course Daniels is back in the suit — we never doubted it for a second. And everything we’ve seen thus far suggests a return to old — practical sets and ships, puppeted creatures, and now men in robot costumes. When the one-hour Star Wars Rebels television movie is brought up and EW writer James Hibberd commented that it has “that sort of early Star Wars feel to it, which is elusive to capture” (this was my same reaction at Comic con), Daniels slips some more Episode 7 goodness:

Quote:
It’s very elusive and I’ll tell you: It’s where we’re going now with Episode VII. We’re all back. And it’s great, actually, that Rebels is set before Episode IV because that film is quintessential basic, “This is Star Wars.” And you know George always used to say every time I arrived on set, I would always arrive for the first time back on set in costume, and during the prequels George would say when I arrived on set that “Star Wars has arrived” — because I was the old fashioned link. Rebels is is an old fashion link to the old fashion film, which which we all loved. And you will love Episode VII — I have electrodes strapped to my head to zap me if I say anything more about it.

Default New Rumors Surface.

I wish these to be true...But who knows.

[Show spoiler]Luke Skywalker has definitely been missing for 10 years, not the reported 35 years.

And the recent Adam Driver rumor - Benedict Cumberbatch, Gwendoline Christie, the Count Dooku connection and now the Driver rumors. These are all based on that central idea of an aristocratic family ‘line’ involving 'Episode 7’s' bad guys. And as I said before, I firmly believe it's the line of Dooku. Details and characters might have changed, but the idea of an aristocratic villain with a heritage going back to the Clone Wars has been there from pre-production, and as far as I know it’s still a major part of the story.”

Moraband – The Sith homeworld is in the movie. It’s been there throughout production with various names attached to it. I had it confirmed to me by someone working in England that there are sets for the ‘Sith world’.”

Saw this posted in the statue/collectibles thread... love the nod to the dark knight! Interesting how they don't show the other side of the Falcon, as it's still might be a steel frame.
I've got a good feeling about this film!

i thought when Sidious held his blade an inch from windu's chest and paused without killing him Sidious was just being cocky proving he could beat him. Sidious still needed anakin to see windu standing over him though so anakin would defend Sidious and turn to the Sith.

just how i saw it

I've always taken the middle road with this. I believe that the Emperor intentionally held back in order to play the Wounded Gazelle but he actually was in danger of being killed by Mace before Anakin intervened.

Nice. I wanna believe it's real model, but it does look CGI, even more so with the fluid camera movement.

Here's more tweets.

Snyder and Abrams are blowing eight year-old Kryptonic's mind.

When I was a kid it was Star Wars, Superman, and Batman and little else. So cool.

I'm really digging the banter between the two projects. It's a ton of fun for fans of both franchises, and it shows they realize just how much these films mean not to just audiences, but the longtime fans as well. The mashups and crossovers are just really, really fun. I hope it continues all the way through the productions of both projects.
