Go for the booze... You may not understand the film but you'll undoubtedly enjoy it more. Be warned though... It really drags on at points, so go easy or you may fall asleep if you're too drunk.

I actually saw this film in theaters and when Louise Fletcher started up with the Central Scrutinizer, it got all trippy, then some black guy in the back row yelled out, "You Cut That Out!"

I like that guy.

Yeah and they aren't very good I know. But, everyone involved including the director said there were multiple rewrites. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't lie about it but ya never know I guess.

Might be because only the first film is any good. No matter how much you polish a turd to look good, it's still a turd.

The Exorcist is excellent no doubt about it but the Exorcist 3 is rather good IMO.

Many other horror flicks sure. The rest of the Exorcist series is pretty lame.

I will watch parts ii and iii sober as I always do almost annually.. My question is seriously about part ii....
I often find that a movies enjoyment can be enhanced with either spirits or ale...
A few beers makes watching romcoms tolerable.. I almost "get" romantic dramas with a bottle of wine and hard liquor can make Adam Sandler seem like Scorsese... My question.. Is there anything that can elevate The Heretic to the level of the first and third installments?

my point (which should be obvious) is that many people like EXORCIST III quite a bit. I agree with you on the other titles.....

nothing would do that! Just go into it expecting a goofy, trainwreck level misfire that's oddly entertaining in it's ineptitude....

Agreed, I have been waiting for III on Blu for sometime now. I really like the tone and approach they took with this movie as trying to copy the first movie would have been a huge mistake.

funny thing about EXORCIST II is that I love the musical score and especially the trailer with the Ennio Morricone theme blaring all over it!!

I also had a big crush on Linda Blair as a teen-ager....

it's still a bad movie though....

Ennio Morricone's Exorcist II score is excellent. Much better than the film itself.

I agree, it is a great score and I would add the film is very well shot by William A. Fraker.
