I just want to beat it before it resets and I don't get the reward for thos week. Similarly, you should all attempt to beat the weekly nightfall as early in week as it gives you 20% boost to experience, faction rep and glimmer. Plus a nice reward of either an exotic, legendary or maybe a ton of strange coins, ascendant energy and shards to help upgrade stuff.

Don't you anticipate the Raid will remain but be reduced in difficulty in order to become accessible, with lesser rewards? If not, they are seriously reducing the value of their game for those who can't coordinate efforts with fairly large parties. People with responsibilities are not likely to ever be able to finish one of these raids otherwise, and the bit that I played really was a change of pace compared to the rest of the game thus far and I would be interested in seeing the whole thing. And furthermore, just having a character leveled and loaded out sufficiently for this mission and the Weekly Strike take more time than a lot of even avid gamers have had to play to this point. I've only had the past week off work and and effed up foot to stay off of as a matter of fortune and misfortune giving tons of time to "invest".

Levelling helps you deal more damage and take less. The damage nerfs and boosts due to what level you are in game are retarded to say the least. I hit level 8s on the moon for less damage than level 17s on mars

There is a way to do the nightfall strike; you kill all the mobs before you even start on phogoth. Do NOT hit him at all or go in the middle. Stay in that room and funnel all the mobs in there. Once phogoth is unleashed, a shrieker will camp the room time to time if you stay there, so you have to fall back slightly to the chamber behind.

Once all the mobs are down; and very important notice regarding using the right element to rip through enemy shields. Solar for wizards and arc for knights. The void damage weapons get a boost, so all of you should have at least one of them on special.

Then once you have got rid of the adds, there's a nice rock to hide behind on the bottom left and you simply push crouch button and then are hidden behind the rock. You push aim and he will pop out and once you release you're back in cover. There's another rock in front that provides good cover too.

Now here's when you get started. Once all the mobs dealt with, phogoth is still chained. So once of you go to the front and hit the weak spot on his chest. Once he's broke his shackles, fall back to the big rock two of you can hide behind. Mobs will spawn but ONLY kill the ones that shoot at you. Very important. If you notice; more mobs don't spawn if you do and then you just hammer away at phogoth.

All strikes have a trick and this helps for phogoth. The weeks almost done but you can still grab a reward.

Honestly speaking, at level 27 almost maxed out, an exotic weapon nearly maxed, The Vault of Glass is easy as anything. Arguably moreso than the nightfalls IF you know what to do. I highly recommend everybody watch that VoG video in under 2 hours. It contains all the tricks.

Well, that's the key isn't it? But what's the point of the whole thing (as an adventure) if you did not solve it yourself and just followed someone else's recipe? Kind of takes part of the fun and sense of accomplishment out of it, I think. I otherwise agree, the combat part is not that bad for level 27's. I was level 26 and having kind of a hard time staying alive. I was missing two legendary pieces to my armor set, still, was not fully upgraded, and could not take a lot of damage. It's kind of a catch 22. You need to do these missions to fully upgrade you best gear, but you need upgraded gear to do these mission.

I'm not going to worry about it, really. I'm good with teaming up to try these missions when the opportunity arises, but I'm not going to dedicate my life to it.

I've been stuck at level 24 for 4 days, while my friends who were at level 21 are now at level 25 and higher and we've played at the same time every time.

I've been a big defender of Destiny, but this is now starting to test my patience.

If I dismantle a legendary item (it's for another class) what will I get from it? Is it worth it or just keep it for my next character?

for legendary amour you will get 2 or 3 ascendant shards. i would say dismantle it, you badly need the shards to upgrade armour

Again, it's up to people. I personally prefer knowing and would rather do the VoG in under 5 hours than spend 3+ days on it. Especially since we have better things to do considering the rewards were lacklustre for the end; beating it.

What kind of missions have you been playing? Maybe you're just unlucky with engrams and the cryptarch, but you should be able to reach level 26 with two legendary armor pieces, without dismantling stuff by now. Depending on what you've been playing, you very likely have enough marks and enough reputation to buy something legendary from one of the vendors. The daily heroic story mission should earn you ascendant material at level 24. Difficult but doable on your own, should be no problem with a fireteam.

I wouldn't call it 'half arsed' if what I think is happening. Bubgie and Activision are nickel and diming us. They've taken a single maybe two games worth of story and attempted to stretch it over 5 games and 10 expansion packs.

Right now there's barely any story content in any meaningful way. When I said to people I expet the 'serviceable' story, I didn't think it would be lacking this much cohesion and not even feel complete.

They need to:

A) Include a grimoire index and tracker IN GAME!
B) Patch in cutscenes to the existing story missions
C) Provide further story missions interwoven into the main game

All these are very easy and possible. Some require moree effort than.others but the fact they've made almost the total investment for the franchise in one week, they can afford to.

I keep comparing this release to MMOs and full stand alone games. The lacking content in terms of story and missions however is despicable at present. Also, I don't like how Salvage and Combined Arms are some type of 'special' game modes that go on and off. Bloody put them in and leave them. I'm sick of getting bounties for salavage and not being able to do it.

Destiny has HUGE potential but they've squandered the opportunity in terms of lore and story. They should've combined their gameplay with the type of story based method Mass Effect 2 used whilst still retaining a persistent online world.

I haven't finished it, but generally the rumbling is end rewards have been more a miss than hit. Some friends have however got legendary gear whilst playing and you get ascendant energy and ascendant shields.

That's too bad. Even more of a disincentive to worry about it much. I was fairly excited about these at first, but that has sort of worn off.

I've been doing a lot of bounties, weeky and daily strike / missions and crucible. I've done a bit of farming and just story missions on Heroic or higher.

I have about ~ 10 strange coins / ascendant energy and a lot of materials.

all my Light equip is maxed out at 15
I have a legendary heavy weapon (rocket launcher) but all my legendary body gear (4 pieces) other than a bond which I bought is for classes other than Warlock which I am not

That's crap for luck. What else Bungie left out that is commonplace in other coop-centric games is the ability to give or trade items. It's something else that might need to be addressed, or else interest will drop off quickly (starting next week). And if the revenue stream is supposed to last ten years, they need to retain users, and if you're getting frustrated, you won't be hanging around.

At L21, I found my first Legendary. Blue engram turned into a Legendary Auto Rifle.

By now I've got all maxed out rares for every slot, just working on Legendary items now.

Another engram turned into a piece of armor with higher light, so now I'm L22.

15 motes of light and 3 strange coins, and so far I'm not frustrated with it. I can do all the strikes up to L20 (haven't tried the 22 and 24 playlist yet) with a few buddies and even the Hard/Heroic mission modifiers.

Crucible is another story but I'm getting better.

Did Nightfall with just one other guy yesterday (L22, well wait, it was MaCruz from here) and we managed to get Phogoth down to 50% before we died. So I'm sure we could've managed it eventually, all the moreso with a 3rd.

Sidebar, the PS4 controller is uncomfortable as heck compared to the PS3. I had to get analog extenders and a wrist brace. I could play hours on the PS3 with no pain. But the PS4s handles are bent closer so my wrist bends more. Go figure.

Anyway, my PSN is JJxiv1215, and I do want to do more strike playlists with similar leveled folks to get better gear and more coins. Usually on around late afternoon/nighttime on weekdays
