No, but now that Weinstein is beginning to announce titles, I wouldn't be surprised if we gt an announcement soon.

I think Harvey is still waiting for all those low prices on HD-DVD to kick-start a resurgence of the format.

There is a tentative October release date, not much other than that.

This is just my opinion, but I think you're better off sticking to the original, instead of watching Sabertooth wear his pooping mask.

I have to agree, I was looking forward to this but what a flat out bad movie. I lost faith in Rob zombie after this, thought he would handle it better. If you enjoyed this then that's your business but I'm sorry for you, there's no defense for this flick

Personally..I did like the film in many ways.

It definately made more sense why Michael was insane. The whole disfunctional family scenes were way out there....but then..those scenes did their job....they put you right in there with Mike....you as a person sitting in the audience were literally driven insane....I could've gone a murderous rampage if I had to live with that....

The scenes with Dr. Loomis and the time in the institution were a huge improvement over the original as well....at least you got to see some more of the story...

And although I too was a fan of the original Dr. Loomis ( RIP )....I thought McDowell's version of the character was ten times better. All the first Dr. Loomis was a fat fraidy cat that whined about Mike being on the loose...at least this doctor had a brain...

And if you think getting shot in both eyes...falling over a ledge of a 2 story home and getting up and walking away within 20 seconds and going straight into a sequel that takes place in the same night nd he can see again...is more realistic...well...shame on you....

Rob did a decent job with the film..and I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars for his effort.

Granted..with more time he probably could've done a better job. But then again....what movie IS perfect? The answer....none....
Totally agree with you badchannels, now ive been a fan of the original Halloween since it came out & funnily enough i was aged 10 when i 1st watched it! then again im a big john carpenter fan, so when i heard that rob zombie was remaking halloween i thought "mmm" i hope they dont slaughter it? im also a fan of the original texas chainsaw massacre i thought the same when i heard that was gonna be remade & i was pleasantly surprised at how good that was, so it gave me some hope that maybe halloween would be bettered & hey presto it was!! i share every bit of your review badchannels, i have never been so intensely gripped by a movie i felt my heart beating faster than normal espec throughout the myers early killing spree act, the disfunctional family he had was so real, like you say it explained better as to why michael was the way he was etc ive nothing but praise for this movie, the original just seems so tame now, its time to move on guys! take the remake of king kong?? some folk swear that the original is better!!!!! some people just dont wanna move on, i say well done to rob zombie for halloween, to me now there isnt any other halloween & just for the record even the great john carpenter gave it a thumbs up, he even said it would of been the halloween he would of liked to of made but only had a small budget etc so if he can appreciate it so can you !!

Yeah, whenever there's a remake, people say the original was better.

Just like if a movie is made from a book, they always say the book is better.

So predictable.

RZ took the movie in a very interesting direction. i've wanted to know about MM's childhood for a long time.

I'll buy it when it's released. Maybe not at full price, but it would end up in my collection.

If I look at it as a remake I hate it.
If I look at it as another take on the mythos, I enjoy it.
It does not have to replace the old ones, there is room for both.
(I will also say I liked the workprint version more than the theatrical)

This is getting a re-issue this October, the 21st I think. It will be a 3 disc special edion on DVD. Since Weinstein is starting to announce blu-ray dates, I wouldn't be surprised if this shows up on their BD release list too.

I thought this movie was great! Loved how they introduced Michael's background in this...

Michael Meyers as a kid was horrible. It was corny.. and laughable. Usually Zombie gets great casts but this was a total flop.
