If I understand your post correctly, this is not the case as the Gamestop near me as I stated in my previous post do this to ALL games.

Yep, I was saying at my Gamestop location, the only game removed from the case is the display copy for the shelf. All the other games are locked up behind the counter anyway, so they don't bother removing the disc from the case for theft prevention since they are out of reach from the normal shopper anyhow.

What puzzles me is why do they open every one why not keep 1 display case out and the customer must tell or bring it up to get a sealed copy from the back.I think if the seal is broken yes its used whether its been played or not.Whoever thought of this idea is stupid.

Every movie that I have purchased from Moviestop has been completely sealed and new but I also know that they do open one of each movie but have never had to buy that one.
Your post sucks!

Where do they open every single one? They usually open 2-3 and display them on a shelf and the rest are sealed and kept in drawers or in a glass case which is locked

Correct.
At every moviestop that I have been to they open one for the shelf and keep the rest behind the counter and when you go to buy they give you one of the sealed ones and put the open case back on the shelf.

It doesn't even stop theft, it just narrows down the amount of people who have access to it to steal it. Last time I went to gamestop I tried to buy a used game, and the disk had been stolen out of the stock room.

Which brings me too another point.... How often do you think that the copy that had been opened with the disc removed went home with a Gamestop employee at closing and brought back again at opening the next day??? Like it was never gone? That's why I would never buy anything "new" that had been opened... If the seal was broken you have NO idea if the disc was used or not. This may not seem to matter if the disc does not get scratched... but its the point of the matter. If something has been opened then it should be sold as such... used. Or at least be labled an "open box" product with some sort of discount.

Tell me that Game Stop cannot come up with a better way to display movies?

They do not have to sneak it, they are allowed to check out any movie. (or game)

Interesting, does that apply to new movies, or just to used ones?

Orlando guys, I have been going to the MovieStop by the FL mall and no problems yet. I preordered Jumper, Spiderwick Chronicles, and Iron Man. The deal of turning in four used DVD's and getting a selected preorder Blu-ray for 50% off. I picked up Jumper for $12.64 and Spiderwick yesterday at $13.71. The guy told me Indy 4 should be added soon. I am looking forward to Iron Man at the end of Sept.

I loved in the beginning when they did trade in 4 dvds and get $20 off of a blu ray title.
I would pick up cheap lots of dvds on ebay for like $2 a disk and then use them for the deal.

I don't mean to revive a dead thread, but holy shit, MovieStop is a ripoff. I traded in season three of Nip/Tuck tonight and countless DVD's and blu-rays, and they would only give me $11 in cash. I called the other day about Band of Brothers on blu-ray (which they sell for $70 new), and they said they would give me a little over $3 in cash. Their trade in prices are such a joke.

They do have some good deals here and there, like I got the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz limited edition steelbooks for $12 a piece, so I just used my trade-ins as credit and got that with some credit back.

If you want to sell movies for cash then a retail store should be your last option.

Incorrect. "New" cars are test driven all the time before being sold.

I can agree with that, somewhat. That's why I try my best to only trade in large amounts of DVDs only when they are doing 50% more on trade in bonuses and such. I think the guy at my local MovieStop doesn't like me, haha.
