LOL its just a gut feeling ..when I think about MGM titles that fit certain DVD labels, I picture Scream Factory getting titles such Empire of the Ants and Food of the Gods, while Kino gets Quatermass and maybe older 50s titles, along with titles in the vein of At the Earths Core (which Kino announced)
I am not saying Im right or anything like that mind you ![]() |

Call me crazy, but the difference in PQ between the Arrow and Scream editions of Motel Hell isn't that big of a difference that I would choose the Scream version over the Arrow edition as it has the better extras. The Arrow edition definitely has a slightly better grain structure, but it is barely noticeable, other than when it is really zoomed in. I would choose Scream's Phantom of the Paradise and Vincent Price films over Arrow's as well, as they have better extras (In the case the Price films, the Arrow releases are missing the Price intros I believe. These are more important than any other extras IMO). The only Arrow edition that I feel is superior to the Scream edition is Lifeforce, and that is only because it came out months later.

Yeah the Arrow edition of that film is better as well. Forgot about that as I haven't seen the film yet. Own it though, but haven't heard great things so haven't been in any rush to watch it. I think the Price films are barely noticeable in PQ differences, and the Scream releases have better extras so... I still would choose the Scream Collections myself.

40". But I used the caps-a-holic comparison links people have been providing and zoomed in, still not that noticeable to me. It's definitely slightly better and more natural, but not enough for me to give up the better extras.

Congratulations SF, you made the best boxset of the year with Halloween and you did an amazing job with Halloween 6 Producer's Cut and a far cry from those bootleg DVDs fans had to hold on to.
Wonderful extras and all that as i can't wait for Nightbreed 3-disc LE and Vincent Price 2 next which are the next best BDs of the year of the genre besides this set and Synapse's Curtains/Prom Night BDs. |
