how come you're skeptical? they found the actual original film elements. this isn't a transfer of the VHS footage used in the Cabal cut, so it should look brand new when all is said and done.

I tend to believe it will be though.

What is the next workprint/recut that people are praying for? There's some of the obvious like the Friday films. I've seen petitions for things like Deadly Friend, Texas III, even Superman IV. Anything else? I have a soft spot for the Crow II and all if could have been.
Beyond anything else, Exorcist III. It's another WB/Morgan Creek title that, like Nightbreed, dealt with severe cuts and edits. The theatrical version got a release this week on blu, but if anybody can find and restore LEGION, it's Scream Factory.

I've got the 3-Disc version of The Exorcist, and soon I'll have The Ninth Configuration sitting next to it. If I could have Blatty's original version of LEGION next to that, I'd sell my soul to Pazuzu!

I don't care about the poster so I cancelled my order from Shout! Factory. I will wait and buy it from somewhere else two weeks later AFTER I read reviews from fans online who have actually watched their copy and not some review site that popped it in and watched it while playing with their iPHone.

If we're talking about actual Bluray picture quality, the likes of Curtains outclasses anything from the Halloween set. It's no runner-up.

No particular reason. It's just a lot of money on the limited set (once limited but now 10,000) for possible audio drops and a lot of unknowns. I'm not saying it's going to be bad. The more I think about it, I like the film, but not enough to drop $80 on it. I hope you guys enjoy though! Hope SF kills it.

oh i'm taking a big chance myself...i've never LOVED the movie but always enjoyed it. that said, i've never owned it in any format, i had it taped on VHS once though! lol but i literally have not seen it in at least 15yrs if not 20.

but i'm a sucker for fancy packaging, extras and extended cuts and like everyone, i'd heard and read about the original version so i knew i would have gotten this. sure i could have saved 40 dollars and got the regular edition but as i said...sucker for fancy packaging. :P

For when this comes out, I must ask if the DC is any better than the theatrical? I adored the book, but only felt the first third of the Theatrical Cut measured up. I also hope the final battle isn't as choppy. I read the book and couldn't tell what the hell was happening.

I watched it, heh. It convinced me to keep my order for the LE instead of going with just the basic release. It looks like a nice, sturdy, well put together little set. It's nothing super fancy, but I love how it looks.

That unboxing video is beautiful.

For the love of all that is holy, some UK company needs to obtain the rights to this.

Well, at least the booklet shows the original 1-sheet for historical purposes.

I've only seen this film once and that was when it was originally released at the theater. I honestly didn't care for it back then. I am looking forward to seeing again though in blu. Maybe I'll like the new cut of it better.

What about Halloween 6 Producer's Cut? great PQ as it's better than all the crap bootleg fans held on to. There's Prom Night too, Slumber Party Massacre, Sleepaway Camp, Ginger Snaps, Pumpkinhead etc. which have great PQ

Anyone happy they found the original footage that was cut and nearly lost? i am, i'm so happy they found the reels and are doing a masterful restoration to the film in HD and should look as good as Halloween 6 Producer's Cut.

Isn't it amazing this movie is in 3 versions? kind of like how films like Blade Runner for example exist in 5 cuts, Brazil exist in 3 cuts, Close Encounters 3, E.T. 2 cuts, Star Wars trilogy 4 cuts, Alien movies in 2 cuts, Watchmen in 3 cuts, Dawn of the dead 4 cuts, Army of Darkness in 3 cuts etc. well you get the picture.
