The 1.0.2 patch will go live next week, and includes several changes to the Cryptarch and Engram experience. These changes guarantee that Engrams will always decode into items at or above the quality of an engram.

Only Engrams that drop after 1.0.2 are subject to this change.

Cryptarch Changes 

Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly.

•Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics

•Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items

•Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items


Activity Changes

•Daily Heroics, Weekly Heroics, and Vanguard: Tiger Playlist activities will include Rare and Legendary Engrams in addition to their existing rewards


Item Changes

•Ascendant materials have been promoted to Legendary to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade

•Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already...

You made it look easy Seriously I tried rockin with my 104 damage fusion, and my 248 damage arc. Bad results. Got a 200+ solar fusion farming around and it's much easier. Still getting killed in one shot, but at least it's making an impact.

Did you finish this yet? Looks like someone found an easier way to do it.

Start the mission, turn around and run to the Ishtar Academy (or) go to the Hall of whispers (building to the left of the starting plane crash). Now you can kill all of those lvl 28. If you die you would just have the regular 5sec respawn instead of going to orbit.

I used up all my engrams that were in vault. Got some purples from it, strange coins etc. but also rares which sucks.

My Trollarch level is 31 now. So it does go higher although I don't genuinely think it means anything anymore.

YAY! But I still have yet to find a legendary engram...any hints?

That's much better, and saves a heck of a lot of load time which was my big gripe. I still get one hit killed but the respawn saves me a lot of time and cursing.

Who thought it would be a good idea to cap Crucible Marks at 200? Not only that but any marks you earn after that are wasted! And to add insult to injury I haven't even earned enough crucible rep to even be able to spend my Marks!

Crucible marks are capped at 100 and Vanguard are 100. Total is 200.

To boost faction rep, bounties are great and you can wear class items for a specific faction BUT if you complete the nightfall at the start of the week, not only will you get cool rewards, rep etc. you'll gain a 20% boost to rep, experience and glimmer I believe.

I had a good laugh at that as well

Glad that engrams are getting fixed! Now I don't have to worry every time I go to decrypt my rare to me legendary engram.

I think they were talking about overall total and not the weekly total. The cap is definitely not 200 as I have 200 Vanguard marks right now and 50 Crucible.

I have a feeling this won't be the buff it could be. I'd bet they don't change the drop rate of legendaries, just change the way they are colored to be accurate. IE: I'd bet you see less Legendary engrams than you used to.
