I said it too. That this stuff doesnt get nominated. But he died and people have been acting like this is comparable to Marlon Brandos godfather, or Peter Otoole in Lawrence of Arabia. As good as he may be and as good as the film may be, its not academy award stuff. This doesnt mean im saying its not fit for the awards or heath ledger should be cast aside, im saying it isnt stuff the academy generally goes near.

Fantasy movies rarely get nominated at all at the Oscars to start with. Jaws got nominated, so did Raiders of the Lost Ark along with Airport and the Towering Inferno. They do it more often than people would think. What I'm saying is that it's too early to speculate on whether if The Dark Knight will get nominated or not. Sometimes, they are predictable, sometimes they aren't. If Johnny Depp can get nominated for playing Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean then... well... you get the point. Again, it's too early to speculate. |

Much like the majority of horror and science fiction films, in most cases comic book-based efforts are always overlooked by the Academy. Not fair, but sadly true. This could prove to be one of the few exceptions, however... |

Like he said in the article, there are plenty of Oscar worthy movies coming out later this year.
honestly, and I know some people will lie, but how many people here knew about There Will Be Blood, Michael Clayton, or No Country for Old Men right now? |

Sure, but much like the Teen Choice Awards or other similar endeavors that doesn't necessarily hold the same weight (or, obviously, the same amount of prestige/respect) as the Oscars (or even the Golden Globes, for that matter). A SAG nomination, however, is very possible for Heath. |

Without a doubt The Dark Knight is the greatest superhero movie of all time... I saw the 12:01am showing this morning. The projector malfunctioned during the previews and I was given a free pass to see The Dark Knight again. I am ready for the sequal.... Pure art, Christopher Nolan should be nominated for best director, Ledger nominated for best actor, and Christain Bale, he is the epitomy of great acting and versatility...He is the heat....

I defy anyone now after seeing Dark Knight to defend the campy 89 Joker and movie. After this movie the studio should just gather all other Batman movies except for Batman Begins and burn them all! I need to see Dark Knight again!!! I'm already having withdrawals!

It's still new, that's why. It will probably go down in a couple of weeks. Iron Man was more than 8.2 at first: -
