Thanks for the help guys.
I'm trying to set up a demo of the Anthem and NAD with my dealer right away, then I'll take my fav of the two and compare with the Arcam at another dealer. I'll let you know what happens! |

First I would like to Thank you both, you're experience and opinion are a big help to me.

The 2/7s, they'll give you what the 2/6s do, but better bass and a bigger sound. The X16s will be a little more laid-back and slightly less bass in comparison to the 2/7s. But the X16s will give you a little more mid-range detail, and they'll have a more delicate sound in the highs but still give you good bass. And they look nicer. what do you think you're going to do? |

It seem to me a bit steep for a discontinued model. |

I really do want to buy a pair of the X16s in gloss white... I had so much simple enjoyment of them it was great. I know that some people say the Excites aren't exciting, and yes the Focus has more sparkle, but the beauty of the Excites was their overall warm rich character and balance of sound, however I would have loved for them to look like the new excites. I think the newer Excites will sound closer to the Focus. |

![]() the Focus 160 I can get for 1900 usd in Hong Kong Today I've found that I can get a new in a sealed box Focus 110 in maple ![]() at the moment I'm using a cheap Chinese (but very surprising) MUSE PCM1793 DAC for my Squeezebox and my Marantz NR1604 internal dac for my Gigabyte Brix I5 htpc/music server. I'm considering the Teac UD-501/301, Arcam irdac, Micromega Mydac( a cheap but highly rated), Halide DS, NAD D1050. The new Dac will be connected directly to my Naim xs2. |

You mentioned a Brix HTPC, if you had a Gigabyte amp-up based motherboard HTPC I'd suggest swapping the op amp on the motherboard (going directly from the Brix to the Naim - skipping the external dac)- but the Brix is an all in one unit. |

Still but man the speaker is discontinued, and it was 1600 USD in the US I believe Callas could correct me, at that price I would go for the Focus. If you look at saving money anyways the DM 2/7 will make you happy I am sure, I only heard the 3/7 from the DM line but they sound pretty good. Price to performance ration you can't go wrong with the DMs. |

Hey guys, just wanted to update you.
Had a listen to Anthem Mrx 310 and Marantz 6008. Liked the Anthem more. Marantz was nice but a little too smooth and polite I guess you could say. Anthem had more punch and attack, but still refined and a nice rich midrange detail over the Marantz. Then I listened to NAD 748 and preferred it to Marantz, but still liked the Anthem a bit more, but it was close. NAD was smooth, still decent detail with a nice big soundstage and quite neutral like Anthem but again Anthem had more attack and I preferred it's midrange detail to Nad's. Now to borrow an Anthem and take it to my Arcam dealer. All demos were on Paradigm Studio 20's and the Arcam dealer also carries Paradigm too!! |

Thanks BigAl, I'm pretty excited to hear it next.
By the way, do you know if there is there much difference in the internal components between the avr380 and the 450/750? I know the amp in the 750 is class G rail switching, but is there anything else different in them over the 380, besides the power supply and wattage? |
