Default Toshiba unveils high-end laptops containing Cell processor.

Quote:
Toshiba has previewed its first laptop computer, the Quosmio G55, which was built to use the same Cell chip that was first designed for the PlayStation 3 game console. This Cell processor also powers the fastest supercomputer in the world, IBM’s Roadrunner. The Roadrunner just broke the Petaflop barrier last month.

Toshiba debuted three brand new high-end laptops: the Qosmio G55, Qosmio X305 and Qosmio F55. Designed for gaming and multimedia applications, the new notebooks are supposed to hit the retail market before the end of the summer. Using the Toshiba Quad-Core HD Processor branding, Toshiba said that the chip is designed for optimum experience of gamers and movie editors.

The Qosmio G55 laptop has up to 500GB of hard drive storage space and has an 18.4-inch wide-screen TruBrite high-definition screen, the first laptop from Toshiba to have such a display. It is designed for the high-end gaming enthusiast and those with lifestyles where their laptop is often their main source of communication and entertainment.

The Qosmio X305 laptop is said to be a gamers’ dream. It has a 17.1-inch widescreen TruBrite high-definition display and uses a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX graphics card with up to 1GB of graphics memory, with dual hard drives with up to 400GB of collective storage space.

The Qosmio F55 has a 15.4-inch widescreen TruBrite high-definition display and uses a Nvidia GeForce 9700 GTS graphics card. This laptop also includes a built-in GPS receiver and mapping software from Garmin.
