Yeah, I like the second more, which is funny because I like the cast of the first better (McAdams and Strong over Rapace and Harris). Really looking forward to the third installment.

The fact that theyre using the same writer as Iron Man 3 leads me to believe IM3 really impressed and Downey had some influence there. He likes to work with people he clicks with and who know how to use him. He was instrumental in bringing Shane Black in to direct IM 3 after Favs' departure.

I agree, that does look like a positive sign.

I don't know which film I like better. Both were good in different ways. While I thought Strong was very good, Harris was much more menacing to me.

I'm betting on the third film being "Hound of the Baskervilles". The first film did pretty well with a slightly supernatural story arc. "Hound" would most likely be an effects laden feature, but to a degree the first two were as well. So here's hoping.

Loved Moriarty
the second one is MUCH more re-watchable for some reason

They can always do a Jack the Ripper story. Probably wont be action packed like the 2nd.

Not a bad idea. And have Christopher Lee make a cameo.

Jude Law Provides Update on SHERLOCK HOLMES 3; Says There’s “Still a Lot of Legs” in the Series

Though Robert Downey Jr. is currently busy shooting the third installment of his Marvel franchise Iron Man, he has another popular series that’s poised to get the threequel treatment at some point in the near future. The success of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (it grossed over $540 million worldwide) spurred Warner Bros. to get working on another entry in the action sleuth series, as the studio hired Iron Man 3 scribe Drew Pearce to handle the screenplay last October.

Word on the project since then has been quiet, but Steve recently sat down with Jude Law at the Toronto Film Festival to talk about his upcoming romantic drama Anna Karenina. Towards the end of the conversation, Law provided a brief update on Sherlock Holmes 3, expressing his excitement at the prospect of reuniting with the Sherlock team for another go-around. Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Towards the end of the interview, Steve asked Law if he knew when they were going to start shooting Sherlock Holmes 3:

Quote:
“No I don’t yet. I mean there’s certainly talk of it and I know there’s a script being played around with, but Downey’s a busy boy and I’m a busy boy so we’ll see. But we want to [do another one]. We’re a very happy team and we have a lot of fun and we also think there’s still a lot of legs in the duo.”
It’s a minor update, but Law certainly seems game to return for more Sherlock Holmes adventures. He and Downey Jr. are likely mulling over a number of projects in the near future, but Law recently committed to starring in Wes Anderson’s upcoming The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Yeah, I'm not convinced
[Show spoiler]Irene is dead, but I'll be shocked if she doesn't come back. I do like the idea of her being killed off though. It made things between Holmes and Moriarty personal!

That would actually be a brilliant idea - it'd be more a battle of brains rather than straight forward action, but that might actually help the series somewhat; if they made a third that utilised the same formula as the other two, it'd just become tired and dull quickly.

I hope that Guy Ritchie returns to do this one, too - although I didn't, and don't, think his directorial style suits the Holmes mythology, his fast-paced, humorous style has become the staple of the series.

Robert Downey Jr has confirmed that Sherlock Holmes 3 is in development.

During a question and answer session on Reddit, the actor revealed that the third installment in Guy Richie's series is now in the works, following the 2011 release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Asked for an update on the film's status, Downey Jr said: "Yes, we have a Sherlock 3 in development. We want it to be the best of the series, so that's a pretty tall order."

Last year, Jude Law told Digital Spy that he believed writing had already begun on the project, but confirmed that at the time Warner Bros had not yet financially backed it.

Producer Dan Lin first teased the film in January 2013, when he confirmed that Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) was working on the script.

This followed an earlier report that Ritchie had signed up to direct the third film, but was planning to base production in Hollywood.
