So..can anyone else verify the Theatrical Version is supposed to only be 2.0 audio? Thats all I can get my Pioneer to play.

That's the only audio option I found on the disc. There wasn't an audio option on the menu, and when the movie plays it only plays in DTS-HDMA 2.0. The back of the box does say that it has a DTS-HDMA 5.1 track and the old DVD did include a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Since the theatrical cut was only included through a deal with Warner Bros, I guess they didn't provide the 5.1 track when they made the disc.

Yes, we only see part of the story but it's still interesting to note the shift that must have happened after the announcement of twice as many copies. They done goofed, I feel.

This is just wrong. If it says it is included on the back of the box, Scream Factory obviously intended to include it. I wonder what they have to say about it? These kind of mistakes are ridiculous.

Mmm... there's probably a few factors, anyway. I managed to get in on that deal too (from memory less than an hour before it ended). I forget how long it was priced at under $56 before the price shifted upwards; four days or so? A week? Not sure.

Would always want the Theatrical because that's what I have been watching for years.

After watching both cuts on back to back nights I am torn.
I do like the DC better, but they did do some fun reshoots for the theater cut which I am glad to have right now. How can you take the topless shot out of the DC? For shame!

Also checked the deleted scenes last night. Nothing special, but it was fun seeing a couple of them remastered in HD, even if it made the VHS sourced ones look worse than they already are. I don't see why they included the theater ending in them though. You only get the deleted scenes if you get the LE, but then you have the theater cut disc too. Just pop that in and go to the scene! The theater ending was the only thing recycled besides the extended stuff. Was happy they weren't just the stuff taken out of theater version too.

Key word there. Apparently.

There will be plenty who may prefer the TC, the film they've been a fan of for years.
Also some may appreciate both cuts. If Craven and Scream bought out a DC of Nightmare on Elm St, 40 mins of new footage, 20 minutes removed, different overall theme etc etc, doesn't mean I'll stop loving the original 84 film or still want to watch it....May even prefer it?

Can't wait until Diabolik starts shipping the DC. Seeing loads of people on my various social media feeds posting pictures and videos is torturous.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I don't find it as torturous as I'm glad its out on time and its getting rave reviews. I had to go the diabolik route simply because shout doesn't sell outside of the US and amazon isn't customs friendly.

On the topic of the DC making the TC redundant, I have read reviews where people prefer the TC so the DC is not a clear cut winner. But can't stop repeating how much I'm looking forward to having both on blu-ray!

I'd like to know if the audio option on the theatrical cut is a mistake or not. I'm a little pissed now paying such a high price to obviously have the cut of the film Ive seen before and adding the directors cut as a bonus and now to for and out he audio is inferior. If I had known I would have just purchased the directors cut by itself.

Yeah, I'm not saying no one should buy the LE or anything, just saying that with that huge of a price difference (25 vs 70, or more if you order from Scream) there's a valid reason for wondering if the theatrical cut is really worth owning. After what I've read and seeing that the bonus features on the first disc are the ones I'm really interested I downgraded my order to the 1 disc. It looks great and I can't wait to see it, but yeah, it definitely didn't sound worth the price difference to me, even with the locked-in 55 bucks from Amazon. If I suddenly decide again that I must have the LE I'm sure it's going to be around for a long time.

Edit: it appears it was advertised as having a 5.1 HD DTS track. That is odd.

Heh, #420 for me. Not really my thing but I found it kind of funny.

Really liking the packaging although I wish there could be a better way to ship out the posters than having to crease them.
