I would have looked forward to Cast & Crew stuff. And great picture of all of them together.
I actually decided to try to get since there was supposed to be new features but with no cast involvement is disappointing. So I might skip it anyways. Sorry but only those who where there doing the films in question should be involved with any features like the commentary and featurettes. So no Film historian and no Nick Redman commentary. Especially when I can't stand those film historian boring commentary's. They should just keep to books about them and leave the films Vid/Audio features to their own Crew & Actors. |

Anyone know where I can purchase Dutch imports? I'm aware of amazon.de for their version of Fright Night, however I came across a dutch version of the film and like the artwork better as it has less crap all over it. Anyone know where I should look for this particular version?

I'll give you 3 examples that pretty much kills any notion that you have to be involved with the production to give great commentary on it Tim Lucas - Any Mario Bava film David Kalat - Gojira, plus several classic silent films Donald Richie - Various Kurosawa films You know what's really a boring commentary track ? A director or cast member who are mostly just observing what's going on in the movie, as if it's a ****ing play by play. It's not about who is involved with the commentary, what matters is good content, and that can easily come from a historian, and be perfectly enjoyable. Some historian commentaries are dull -- but no more so than the bulk of cast/crew commentaries. At least the historian tracks are actually interesting once in a while since they do preparation whereas the cast/crew ones just show up. How many times have you heard them go, "I haven't seen this movie in years"? Seriously, how about watching the film in advance so you might remember something about it instead of wasting our time? lol |

Yes but he still the only one as the others said so that no one asked them and it should have all of them that want to do it. Of which they seem to like to do any time.
It doesn't matter if they are experts. The people who were there are the ones who count and especially for commentaries and any behind the scenes features. They don't know any jokes or anything else that happened personally with each person there. I like fan and historian stuff in books or in videos on TV. But not on stuff like official DVD & Blu-Ray release unless it's balanced with the director, cast & crew stuff. I know there are some director commentaries that have been boing but they were usually by themselves and a actor give them someone else who was there reminisce with them. 98% film historian I listened to on a commentary is boring unless the director was there with them. While 15% have been boring but 85% director and actor commentaries have fun or at least is informational with stuff that not even film historians could have gotten without being there on set. Of course Film historians have to do preparation since there were not there while Director's and actors have to go by memory. Especially stuff never told to anyone except among themselves. I have read so many things about Christine since it came out from many sources in books & such. Never heard about Kevin Bacon going to be on it until Footloose came along. Never heard the joke Alexandra and her twin sister did to John Carpenter. How the song BTTB came to be used in the film or even that George Thorogood with screen writer Bill Phillips shot another ending for Christine. All that no one else knew until the featurettes for the 2004 Special Edition from there own lips and no one elses. |

Actor commentaries always depend on how loosely the person handles it and if there is a moderator of some kind to keep things on track. I would generally say better information can be had from actors in straight interviews.

Its just weird that the cast were not approached, they have some great stories about filming the production, and most importantly it was sooo obvious they love talking about making the movie. |

Fan commentaries also have their place, especially on cult and genre fare outside mainstream tastes. There are going to be fans that know more about the entire production than even insiders, mainly because it is a passion for them and not a job. Historians tend to be on the dry side, mainly because they attempt to impress audiences with the depth of their knowledge on a film.

Holland just needs to use the two commentaries he already recorded and put online, and that would involve most of the top cast and crew. More extras would sweeten the pot even further, but I'd be pretty frustrated if those weren't included (again).

For me the thing that would be the best extra would be Roddy's "Home Videos" though but no one can track them down. there were a few leads on where they ended up, but alas they werent there. |

Psst...did anyone ask his, um, life partner? His children (if he had any)? The guy (or gal) who cleaned his garage? You'd have to be a fiend to dispose of material like that. Otherwise, if that material exists (and if they weren't a figment of someone's imagination), those movies have to be somewhere. |

We usually have an exact date like, months in advance. It's never more than a month before it's released. You don't need to pay attention till December.

Pre-orders start about 3 weeks before release date. You can always go to TT's Facebook page for info, and there's a release list on this forum.
