Pac Man or Asteroids on my cousins 2600. Ahh the good ol' days! Actually now that I have a 360 and a PS3, the "Good Ol' Days" don't seem so good!

I thought I was going to be one of the only older players here. There are more Atari users than I thought would be. Oh right. I played the 2600 when I was about 4 and kicked the shit out of my dads friends. My dad told me that he would bet his friends that I could beat them in games. I did not know this until later in my life but that was cool. I wonder how much money( or other things) my dad won.
I remember the 5200 being the coolest thing, it was HUGE. wow, how far games have come.

I lost $100 the first week of college betting a buddy that he couldn't get past level 100 on Tetris..... he got to like 140 or so I think.... FIRST TRY! I'll never forget the "castle" or whatever it was blasting off.... as I forked over my money

He started on level 9, and I asked him why... and he said the other levels go too slow, and make him tired!!!! I had never seen Tetris played like that before!!!!!!

Since I've had my PS3 I've played Joust and Q*Bert more than the actual games released for it. I wish they would put more classics out for download.

The first game I remember playing was Jeopardy with my sister on C64.

Actually my first console game was Atari Pong. One of hte previous posts reminded me. It was a wood veneer console with the actual knobs built into it, no joystick! My dad bought my brother and me the game and a 13" B&W TV for Christmas one year. Wow, how far we have come!

Reminiscing.

I played pong at Grandpa's house in the 70's. Got Atari 2600 sometime in the 80's, and the best, best game was Raiders of the Lost Ark. Then I got into games for my Commodore 64. Since then, I have had to be studying or working, and now I have these crazy parrots that take up all of my free time, otherwise, I'd probably still be gaming hardcore, though they don't make turn based RPG's like they used to. Too much fast action for the Gen Y and later crowds.

There were many of that type. Unknown to me at the time, my cousin received a Colecovision so my uncle gave us the old unit built like you mentioned. It was made by Coleco and ran on C or D cells. Played Tennis (Pong), Hockey, and handball. When I got tired of playing handball I tried playing Tennis and Hockey by myself.

My father would NEVER have bought us such a thing. In the summer of 1982 I bought the Atari 2600 and would only buy the best titles.

I found a picture of the pong console we had. It wasn't an Atari it was a Telstar Classic by Coleco.
There's a pic of it at this website.

I guess the faux wood grain is what made it classic.
