I think what shaded is saying is that with the packaging still retaining the 1st printing logo, the safest bet is to score eraserhead corrected @ CC directly.

I picked up Carlos just this July and it was still the incorrect disc. The only other way to tell something about CC is the sticker at B&N. They have a date on them. But even then, could be a transfer or warehouse sitting time.

I really hope we are getting closer to a Kwaidan blu-ray release.

I'm given to understand that the Masters of Cinema DVD is the complete version. I keep thinking I should acquire a copy just to see that version (I'm not region-free when it comes to Blu-ray, but I am when it comes to DVD).

Possibly a little late to the party with this. But I recieved 'The Life Aquatic' yesterday, thanks to a wonderful fellow user here.

All I can say is WOW, the Transfer is Excellent. Can't wait to dig into the Extras this weekend.

just saw on rotten tomatoes a bit that said, "known by some as the Canadian David Lynch." I'm sure that will probably move a few units.

Lol, I know the feeling. I didn't realize until last night that the announcements had been made. I have been busy too, with my 3 day old baby. That made the Criterion announcement which I always look forward to just a little less important.

Did you order it through Criterion.com? I noticed that it is in-stock.

I would buy it immediately if Criterion.com offered overnight shipping, but it probably would not be in until Tuesday anyway.

Congratulations!
I ordered it from Criterion.com. I've had new release titles deliver on Saturday before from them. But I cannot always count on that.

oh, he's a very cultured baby! he slept like a champ through both. and through Laura, too. it's the color films that get him too intrigued... and when he is stimulated like that, nobody in the room enjoys the movie.

Regarding an uncut version of KWAIDAN, 5 years ago, when they were more responsive on facebook, Criterion was asked about it and they said (quote taken from the Criterion forum):
Quote:
according to our research, the 183-minute version of Kwaidan is not the director's final cut, but if/when this is reissued we will be sure to include the additional material as a supplement.

You forget, many areally only interested in "mainstream" films like the Wes Andersons, the David Lynches, the Christopher Nolans, The David Fischer, and the Terrence Malicks. They also want RoboCop and other OOP, yet hugely popular titles brought back. The Facebook posts are horrendous.

Well, that's not especially odd. I can wrap my brain around the idea that a number of Criterion fans hanging out at blu-ray.com aren't that familar with Criterions that are not on Blu-ray. Just as I wouldn't necessarily expect people familiar with Criterion's output on DVD/BD to know what Criterion released on LD.

They're are plenty of films in the collection that I'm not familiar with, but none that I've never heard of.

(Then again, I'm a huge dork that keeps an excel spreadsheet updated with all the releases...)

There's multiple Terrence Malicks?

Does this mean we can have a new film every year?

Jesus, I've been trying to find out where I read that for ages! Thanks for bringing it up.
It does kind of annoy me when I hear people refer to the extended cut as "uncut" or the "directors cut".
In an ideal world we would get both cuts on blu ray (and hopefully more features this time!).
And for those wondering, Criterions current release is NOT the cut down American release, its the International version. The butchered American version removed Woman Of the Snow entirely and ran a little over two hours.

Nnnooooo!, you didn't just lump Terrence Malick in with Anderson, Lynch, and Nolan!!?! and David Fischer the hockey player!
