I only watched this the once, years ago now I think, before I knew who Nakadai was, but Nakadai became my favourite actor not long after, and I still remember this as one of Nakadai's greater performances. TBH I didn't even remember that Mifune was in it.

Sword of Doom wasn't one I thought I wanted to own at the time, but I do want to see it again, and I have a feeling it will only rise in my estimation on repeat viewings. Will definitely have to buy this one.

But Samurai Rebellion, yes, now that's a Nakadai/Mifune movie I love love love; definitely waiting for Criterion to upgrade that one (or that whole sixties samurai boxset of theirs would be amazing why not).
