Frozen is a Disney movie that was not released in the US in 3D. But, it was released to the European market. From any kind of business stand point that doesn't make any sense. I bought the South Korean Charlie Chaplin Collection because many of those movies aren't available in the US, and the ones that are, are very expensive. The US companies are doing a horrendous job of releasing cult and classics to Blu-ray. But, Disney isn't. They're releasing everything. It's just beyond weird that Frozen 3D is not one of them. |

What movie was as blockbuster as Frozen and released in the US and not in their own country? It's hard to put a film at the same level of success as Frozen. Also Frozen is not a classic movie. It was released late 2013 and probably hit normal theatres this year. It's in the top five of biggest money makers Disney has ever produced. It's been a huge draw at Disneyworld. They've transformed Hollywood Studios into Frozen world, with parades, shows and exhibits based on this movie. Yet for some reason they've decided to not give the biggest market the version they released to theatres. But, gave it to every other market. This is tad amount to Lucas releasing the blu ray Star Wars Saga to the European market and not releasing it to the US. Companies jump when the market is hot. Frozen is HOT. I will admit that the list you started is strange if they weren't released in their country of origin. But, it's probably more on the process of creating a blu ray and release then it is on the actual market. Frozen is a distinct choice by Disney (BVD) to hold back the 3D version of one of their most popular movies ever. For the life of me that makes no sense. Some one posted that they might be planning a big Christmas set. Which could be true. But, there is no official word on it, and it's closing in on the Christmas season. I held off purchasing the blu ray edition because I waited for the 3D which hasn't come. I would be pissed beyond belief if I bought the blu ray version and then had to rebuy it because they decided a year later to release it in the US in 3D. That's something extremely Disney, soak every penny out of the consumer as possible. |

Since I wanted to own it when it was first released, I bought a 3D copy off e-bay. Which turned out to be bootleg. Needless to say they gave me a refund. Since I saw the bootleg, there was no rush to purchase the true copy. But, till you just answered my question I had no idea when 3D was coming to the US, I bought the UK version. Which works perfectly. So, they can release a US version whenever they want, I no longer need it. Thanks again. |

The UK doesn't make blockbusters without support from the US, nobody in the UK has that kind of money (except Ingenious Media, but they just secretly co-finance Fox films). The last big British blockbuster was Gravity, and even that provoked massive debates as to whether it was British or not. (It met British government criteria for tax funding, so was deemed British by the BFI and the BAFTAs.) |

If you wrote that Monty Python or Benny Hill in England or perhaps Amelie in France or any of the great Japanese or Korean horror movies not being available in their countries would be similar. I received the lamest response from Disney Movies regarding Frozen. They told me to get it from VUDU. I guess they didn't read the part of my e-mail stating that I bought it from the UK. |
