Fox couldn't have put it in a worse time slot, opposite the NFL and Scandal. I don't think it would have ended up being a hit regardless, but it had no chance on Thursday night.

It's a shame too because it's a great show. I'm entertained every week. Need to watch Broadchurch now.

I'm glad this flopped, maybe they'll make fewer unnecessary remakes now. I can just about understand when a TV series like The Bridge or The Killing gets remade because they are in a foreign language, but remaking the English Broadchurch seems totally unnecessary.

Yeah its really great. Excellent cast, great shooting locations, and a storyline that keeps you watching.

I've never seen Broadchurch, so I'm watching this with relatively fresh eyes. But the premise at least IMO is quite similar to The Killing.
I enjoy both!

I tried to give the opening episode a fair go but I'm not interested in a shot for shot remake with an inferior cast.

Is this worth watching if you've seen Broadchurch? I just finished the series on Netflix, and I'm interested in Gracepoint due to the fact that it's supposed to branch off into different territory (with a different killer) after the sixth or so episode. Is it worth wading through what is said to be a shot-for-shot remake for the first six episodes to get to the new/different stuff?

I thought it was a fun "mini series". I've never seen the original. only watched because I love Gunn. She was fantastic in the finale.

Just finished the season-finale & enjoyed it alot. I know I'm in the minority but I'm really that they canceled Gracepoint. It was a compelling drama that is always 'My Cup of Tea'. The ending left it as if they were going to continue another season. I'm sooo , I think these "kind" of shows are the best that's on TV & they just continue to cancel excellent shows & leave the junk on. When are these network execs. going to get a clue that just b/c the majority like "junk" TV it is all acceptable, over.

BTW does anyone know if Gracepoint will be out on BD(or Dvd)?

A little off topic, but I just finished watching season 2 of Broadchurch on Netflix. It has been over a year since I saw the first season, and I felt like it would have helped to have re-watched it before watching this, but for the most part, I was able to keep up.

I was actually a little worried because reception seemed pretty mixed back when it came out, but I thought it was still pretty great. I did find a lot of the court scenes to be cringeworthingly unrealistic, but other than that I was pretty immersed. The cinematography was as magnificent as ever. A truly beautiful series with an amazing cast. I was kind of unsure of having the whole Sandbrook case being integrated into the season at first, but they managed to pull me in pretty good.

Really wish this series would get a US Blu-ray release.
