This is the way I felt too. "Rushed" is a good way to describe the TC. The DC is a much better experience IMO.

My two cents on the "return" thing:
If it came down to fans missing out on the LE, that would suck but they'd be getting copies that were probably already opened and manhandled at this point as opposed to the new copies that they ordered. At most though SF would probably have to just buy back some unopened copies from retailers which I don't think would be too much of an issue. As for them losing money over this... well, it's not the same thing but I remember when Cemetery Dance (an independent horror book publisher that specializes in limited editions) had a big sale on their site that was intended to exclude a new item that I think cost $250. They ended up not doing that so some people were able to order it for a hundred bucks cheaper. They ended up fixing it but their stance was for the people who already ordered it was "It was our mistake, you get to keep it for the cheaper price" even though they probably ended up eating hundreds of dollars over it. What if someone ordered the LE and received the SE instead? Some people will get very angry about this and demand that Shout! send them out the correct merchandise quickly as well as a return label, and it will never be quick enough even though I'm 100% positive Shout! will follow thru. The same would hold true if someone received a completely different movie instead of one of the two versions.
If someone ordered the LE and instead received the LE Halloween boxset, should they keep the boxset? It costs more than the LE, but wouldn't it be fair to contact Shout! and get the issue resolved? Shout! is run by humans and ALL humans make mistakes. It happens and there's nothing you can do about it. In an instance of receiving the wrong item and the company admitting a mistake and asking to send the item back on their dime, I don't see what issue this could possibly cause. I'm not on a soapbox or anything like that, but it appears the correct course would be to send the incorrect item back and accept the correct item that you actually ordered. |

I don't even think they have to. It's customer service and accepting their staffs mistake. Yeah they might lose £10-£20 there, but I will come back and spend again. I've bought many titles, 9/10 times unaware of the error until I'm at the tills. Once or twice fully aware at HMV. I bought Star Wars for £39.99. There were two copies priced like this, amongst five others priced £79.99. They also place new release blu rays next to the DVD in a chart, many times the blu has been cheaper (they put the DVD price on it) Each time, I've never had to say a thing, the staff straight away call the manager over and they put in a code at the till and then send someone to change the prices. It happens everywhere. I have, I bet a few here have seen amazon have a low price on an item and then an hour or so later it's back at the proper price. I think I bought Braveheart blu for £3 - a total error as it was quite new at the time. What I wouldn't expect is for a proper company who made an error, pricing or sending the wrong product, to hound people with phone calls?!!!? Pick up some ltd copies from another retailer, send them, apologise it's not the first 3000, include a $10 coupon or 10% goodwill gesture and take it on the chin chalk up the experience and learn from it. Obvious. But never expect your 'fans' to sort out your mess by calling them at home. Pathetic. |

The ltd costs me an extra £35 and I may also never rewatch the TC again. I like extras, some on the bonus look great but if I'm honest with myself, I may just never get time to watch them. If I did watch one or two it would be the ones included with the standalone DC. Plus I'm ok with DVDs still, so I could just add it in to still have it ....for no real reason lol! |

Things happen for a reason! I don't know why anybody would be willing to fork over $70.00 for one movie in the first place. A boxset doesn't cost that much! Nightbreed is certainly not worth $70.00, that's ridiculous. I'm glad that I've order the Director's Cut, not the LE.

I ordered at $56. I've always really liked Nightbreed. So if they had only released the TC at the normal $19.99 I'd have ordered. The DC is new, unseen and $25 I might not have preferred this, it's not the version I know I like. So with that it seemed ok Now I'm thinking $25, never watch the TC and spend $30 on two other titles I'd like instead. Maybe if it were still 5000 and sold out everywhere....but it's not |

Even if I just watch the DC from now on I still like having the TC for posterity's sake at least, and I'd be curious about the missing bonus features if I didn't have them. I don't buy much movies period so it's not as if I missed out on something else.

I agree about the special features. Lots of discussion about which version is best, but nobody's said whether the LE's additional disc is worth it.

I think there's no doubt the DC has the best extras, but what I'm wondering is if the LE bonus disc, as well as the theatrical cut, make the LE worth it. Because the DC's extras are best, doesn't make the LE's bonus disc worthless.
I've got the LE on order from Amazon and I'm sticking with that, even though I'll probably hardly ever watch the TC, but I love extras, so I want them all - especially the additional deleted scenes. If Nightbreed gets a foreign release with significantly different extras, I'll probably double dip. |

I thought Nightbreed was just "ok" when I saw it in the theatre...wasn't a big fan. I had it on vhs but never had it on DVD. I hadn't planned on ordering the blu-ray but have to admit that the Director's Cut had me curious....so I ordered it. I didn't want to pay the price for the other set, but didn't mind $22 bucks for this new cut.
I do remember having some Nightbreed comics back in the day...but honestly I can't remember any of the storylines now.. ![]() ![]() Last edited by RickWJ324; 10-19-2014 at 08:48 PM. |

I watched the DC cut last night and I have to say that I was a little disappointed. I haven't seen the TC since it originally came out and couldn't remember much at all of it. I do remember being disappointed when it came out originally because I was a very big Barker fan, so I was really looking forward to this.
I still think the movie has lots of problems, but I guess the DC is the better of the two. That musical scene at the beginning was god awful though. Was this set up to have sequels? It felt like there was more story to tell. |

I'm deciding weather or not to cancel the Limited Edition and just get the Regular Edition. On one hand, I really have no need for the Theatrical Cut, as the Director's Cut is obviously closer to the book. But on the other hand, those extras are very promising.
