Hello All,
I am new to the graphic design world but am very interested in making my own covers for my Blu-ray collection! Before I go out and make a big purchase of the software, i'd like to know what everyone uses and what you would all recommend? I saw that there is Photoshop Elements 13 download available from Amazon for 89 dollars. Is this a good deal? Should I look into other software? Thanks for the help

Any good tutorial videos you guys could recommend for this specific typr of design would be awesome as well!

Since I don't have Photoshop and cannot afford that luxury yet I use Gimp. Gimp is very similar to Photoshop I find. You can find it online here http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

I myself am new to this and the talent on this board just blows me away. Someday I hope to be able to half-way match their talent.

Cheers,

Yes, I agree the talent here is remarkable. Thanks for the link but I am sort of leaning toward Photoshop, I have a couple graphic designers in my family that I think could help me out if I needed it but now I just need to decide between elements and the full thing. Looks like I can purchase elements for 90 dollars on Amazon or the full photoshop for 10 dollars a month using Creative Cloud through Adobe. Decisions decisions...

Holy crap! These are great!

I've never been able to figure out why it's so difficult for Fox to make covers for these films with some sort of consistency...

Has anyone tackled a 9 cover set for the individual discs of the Star Wars Saga boxed set?

Does anyone have a nice scan of the back cover of The Walking Dead: Season One special edition digipack? I want to convert mine to a regular Viva case.

I made a custom cover similar to the Limited Editions a while back. The back isn't a scan of the limited edition, but it should suffice.

Default The Blob '88

I started this one several days ago but got stuck on the back. I'll give a shout out to Deathcab for graciously allowing me to use some of the elements off of the back of his cover to get me over the hump on mine.

This is my usual remake of Twilight Time's cover...

I know this may me askin a little much but I need some Photoshop help. I've decided i'd like to create a matcing set for all my Blu's exactly like bpmford did on page 18 of this thread:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=360

I am trying to almost replicate his design template but with no avail. Now before I get hated on for copying, he did offer up his design to the forum back in 2009 haha so it's not like they are locked down. I have tried contacting him several times on multiple sites with no luck. I am not planning on selling or redistributing these as my own work, I just love the way his look. I also intend on changing the color from blue if that helps. Shown below:

But for the life of me I cannot figure how to create the shapes or whatever they are(the blue border)! Only been using Photoshop for about a week now so i'd appreciate any and all help, thanks!

Default The Vanishing

I need some opinions. I was asked a few weeks ago if I was going to do a remake for Twilight Times release of The Vanishing. I decided to do one, but since I actually like TT's cover, I'll make a version with original art for those that prefer that. Please offer a comment on which of the two fronts you think looks the best...

My personal preference is the second as I prefer a cover that isn't too "busy" and not using the actor credits gives a cleaner look. But, since I am really making this version of the cover for others, I'll go with what others prefer.

I like the second one myself.

Guide lines and the Pen tool might be a good start. You can create a path with tons of "anchor points" in it, and place the guides at every intersection so they're perfectly straight and sharp.
