Yes, all three releases are the same identical 2 discs.

Watched Exorcist III a couple of hours ago. I should preface this by saying that I really don't feel like debating the issue but I agreed with site's 3/5 PQ score. There is 'video noise' throughout, it's quite noticeable. And detail is nothing special. It doesn't ruin the disc (still much better than my dvd version) but it is a somewhat disappointing blu-ray. If anything I often find that the site gives far too generous a PQ score (the very surprising high marks of BU's Cat O' Nine Tails by Dario Argento being a classic example), but this time, I felt that it was spot-on. Certainly don't regret buying it but it definetly should look better.

It's available on more than one steam/download, and in HD. It has been for 2 years. I don't remember which I used but it looked better than the disc.

The Heretic blu-ray is a mess, plain and simple!

Apparently, the highest quality version of the VUDU download was cited as the source of a fan restoration that's floating around out there.

I haven't seen it--and don't intend to--but I imagine the people who worked on it would be taken aback if the official blu-ray looks worse, especially since the download is probably much more compressed.

As you described in your account of the confusion in cataloging transfers these days, it's a bummer that someone working for Warner Bros. seems to have stepped right over a better source for the heretic Blu-ray.

Apologies if this has already been covered here, but can anyone confirm that this set includes all of the content from the old DVD set...all extras etc.?

Yeah it's all the same as the DVD release, at least for the sequels. Original film has all the Blu-ray extras, minus the recent 40th anniversary stuff.

Anthology on blu is a great set. Decent transfers on the sequels except for the Heretic. That one's pretty rough looking.

A lot of people on this forum shouldn't be taken seriously or respected! They are clowns pure and simple! The Exorcist is an excellent, intense, powerful and gripping film! And to say otherwise or to say that it's "funny" really leads me to believe that whoever would say that is just a little insignificant troll!

There were two other pazuzu appearances cut out of the blurays? Were they on the original 2000 dvd?

I find the bloody mouth version of the spiderwalk to be quite bizarre, scary and so unexpected. The tongue flicking/ chasing Sharon around looked kind of cute to be honest, the way regan crawls around on the floor. The sound effect when regan opens her mouth and blood pours out after she spider walked down the stairs is quite chilling.

The Bloody mouth spiderwalk is the more mainstream "safe" choice. It's startling the first time it's viewed and scary in a traditional horror sort of way. The tongue flicking animalistic version is far more unnerving in a psychological sort of way. I can appreciate both versions, and while I enjoy the effects of bloody mouth version, I enjoy the tongue flicking version because it goes on for longer and feels more complete.

What has Linda Blair done outside of the first Exorcist that has shown she can act or is worth to have the lead role in a movie? She got lucky with Friedkin directing her and now the only thing she is known for is that movie... I think one of the many mistakes that Exorcist II made was having her back on board, and not even fully committed as she didn't want to do the makeup anymore as part of her 'demands'. I am glad Blatty made her character a footnote in his movie. To me, she is the MacGuffin of the franchise.

Well, she did star in Roller Boogie. She looked pretty good in it too.

Oh I don't know, what good roles has been offered to her over the years?! Nothing really! She's typecast, not her fault! She also received death threats from religious nutbars!

Yeah, she did turn out to be quite the hottie. I definitely had a crush on her. She ended up doing that white stuff and that was pretty much the end for her.

From these replies it would seem a career in porn would have been a more favorable career path.
