GT game. Thank God it's WF then a bye. The O has been very poor to be kind. May also get back T Dye by GT to help with the running game. He hasn't had a chance to play due to injuries but was probably going to start as a FR last year before get hurt his back.

Source - http://espn.go.com/college-football/...mestic-assault

Quote:
The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating an alleged domestic assault involving Florida State running back Karlos Williams, the agency said in a news release issued Monday.

Senior Karlos Williams leads second-ranked Florida State with 378 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

Williams, a senior from Davenport, Florida, is being investigated for allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend, who is pregnant with the couple's second child, according to people familiar with the investigation.

In the news release, the TPD said it received the case on Saturday night and immediately assigned it to its criminal investigation division.

"As long as it's an active, ongoing case, Florida law prohibits us from talking about it," TPD spokesman Scott Beck told ESPN.com on Monday.

On Friday, Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher denied a report by a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida, that Williams was suspended from the team. At the time, Fisher called it "another false report."

"There's another false report, and that's amazing how things happen," Fisher told reporters. "Whoever has sources, whoever has rumors, needs to check who they are talking to -- because that is about as far from truth as there is."

Fisher couldn't immediately be reached on Monday.

Williams is No. 2 Florida State's leading rusher with 378 yards and seven touchdowns. He scored two touchdowns, including a go-ahead, 1-yard score in the fourth quarter of the Seminoles' 31-27 victory over No. 5 Notre Dame on Oct. 18.

The Seminoles, the defending national champions, play at Louisville on Thursday night.

Jimbo's a liar right? He has to be, right? Forget coaching, forget recruiting, he's got a big spotlight on his program, and he continues to stick his foot in his mouth when it comes to player conduct off the field.

FSU has tons of smart alum and I'm sure really intelligent people on staff advising. Surely he's been told a thousand times, 'don't respond to rumor and speculation.' Is he relying on the old school 'what coach says is law' because that ship sailed a long time ago. His reaction to all of this is so befuddling to me, or am I the naive one?

I think it's pretty obvious some people at ESPN have an SEC bias and they certainly spend more time on the SEC, but I think it's going overboard to make it seem like it's some company-wide conspiracy to get as many SEC teams in the playoffs as possible. The SEC is the best conference in football and has been for several years, and it has the most devoted fan bases, so they're going to spend more time covering the conference.

The only thing is, I hear a lot of the talking heads say FSU is getting rewarded from last year, but the SEC teams are getting the same treatment. I just hate that the margin for error is so slim for everyone outside of the SEC.

Short Answer
ESPN is just covering what is out there. Fix the polls (ha, yeah right) and only then can you tell if they are truly biased or not. Until then they are taking what comes out of the polls and beating it to death to fill time.

Long answer
[Show spoiler]
The argument isn't that ESPN benefits from having more SEC teams in a playoff (everyone has wanted for years) because they have exclusive rights to the playoff anyway. The difference between 2 SEC teams (which will probably be in the playoff) and 3 or 4 is negligible for ratings, which is how they make their money.

The article hits on the real problem but doesn't name it.... It's polls and rankings. We've all heard stories of AD's or information directors ranking teams without watching any football and MAYBE reading boxscores. Then you have these same people try to project how teams will fair the next year in the preseason and it's a disaster. OF COURSE IT IS, these are kids and there is no telling how things change with new lineman or skill position players from year to year. Not to mention the inconsistencies in current poll positions because of all the above. teams are ranked weirdly....and here's the thing. IT DOESN"T MATTER NOW!! the playoff committee is watching games and talking to football people. I have faith in that system until it proves faulty. It's a vast improvement over the AP and coaches poll.

Polls shouldn't start until around now so we at least have a better idea of what wins are good and which are terrible (cough Ohio St cough). Until the SEC upper echelon programs are regularly beaten by other conferences, they will continue to be compared to each other.

As for the comparison of how Jameis Winston is treated vs other players on other teams... He's the National Championship MVP, Heisman incumbent who has been accused of sexual assault, having BB gun fights on campus, caught on tape stealing and being utterly stupid in public. The last one wouldn't be an issue if not for particularly the first one. To compare someone at an SEC school, even a major player to the juxtaposition of accolades and accusations is silly.

ESPN is guilty of a lot of things. Manufactured debate on stupid topics ("but is Joe Flacco elite" (C) PFTCommenter), trying to fill endless airtime with drivel and graphics (CNN too!) but are they biased? I don't think so. If the Big Ten was the same conference it was 15 years ago, i'd say yes....but it isn't. Should Oregon get more credit? Maybe, They have a tremendous program going but they also need to stop shitting the bed for one game each year. Sadly that has a hangover effect (see polls commentary above).

i'll stop writing on this and just say that ESPN is covering what is out there. Fix the polls (ha, yeah right) and only then can you tell if they are truly biased or not. Until then they are taking what comes out of the polls and beating it to death to fill time.

SEC teams play a tougher schedule (espcially the Western Division) than schools in other conferences. If you have a bunch of 1-loss teams competing for playoff spots the SEC is going to have the edge. Just the way it is.

One last thought

Fatigue =/= bias

We are all tired of hearing about the SEC but someone has to step up regularly for the narrative to change.

well, three of the four teams in the first playoff ranking being from the SEC isn't going to help matters

That kind of crap will probably help there be a push for a larger playoff. Each major conference champion should get an automatic bid and then they can choose other teams to fill out an 8 or 16 team playoff.
