Which blu-ray player? (<$75)

I actually have the Sony bdps1100 which is the older model in one of the bedrooms and it has the dark background you're talking about. All my Sony's do actually. I've never had a problem with the cheaper 1100 either. Its plays like a champ and the PQ is great. I assume the 1200 is similar to the 1100 so you should be happy with it if you decide to make the purchase.
