Awesome! Now we just need some other early 90's classics like "The Getaway" remake.

At last. A big favourite of mine, should have been followed by the rest of the Hoke Moseley books. Better late than never, FX has done a pilot with Paul Giamatti. There's a very good film of Charles Willeford's The Woman Chaser that deserves a blu ray and his novel The Shark Infested Custard is begging to be filmed.

I always wondered about director George Armitage. He has a total of seven directing credits, 10 screenplays, and 3 producing efforts in his career according to IMDB. This doesn't seem like enough to make a living over 50+ years to me, does anyone know if he does anything else? Maybe a script doctor? If he were doing second unit direction it would show up on IMDB. Or is he independently wealthy?
This article http://thepinksmoke.com/obscurearmitage1.htm has some info but no real answers. |

There are a few directors like that - Elliot Silverstein springs to mind with two big hits (Cat Ballou and A Man Called Horse), a few TV episodes and only three other features. Sometimes people in the industry spend forever in development Hell, attached to projects that get some development funding but never get greenlit. Even a director as prolific as Richard Fleischer had a five year gap in his career with projects like Sacco and Vanzetti and Nightrunners of Bengal collapsing at the last minute and leading to lengthy lawsuits to get his money from Dino De Laurentiis and the guarantors of Samuel Bronston Productions.

BTW, they updated the cover slightly, now it's the "Collector's Edition", which is probably good since that usually means plenty of extras: ![]() |
