Its metal, pretty nice actually... Only 1 copy of the exclusive at my Best Buy at 10:05am (only a couple copies of the 2D/3D versions as well )

I remember last year when AUJ EE first was released, a lot of stores didn't have it in stock for a few weeks

Did they really drop the Portuguese language options from the 2D version? Can anybody confirm?

Up to this point, pretty much every US Blu-ray of LOTR or The Hobbit has had Portuguese audio and subtitles.

Sorry if I missed it somewhere in here- got a newborn at home and I don't sleep at a lot-

but can someone tell me if Target and Best Buy have the regular 2d blu edition? I don't want a steelbook or an exclusive or a key or any other swag- just the standard green-border slipbox. Don't have time to drive all over- aforementioned newborn, see- and need to find out where I'm going after work/voting....

I feel your pain today!
Yes both stores should have the 2D version and 3D version.

They do, but even though I live in a reasonably large area, stock has been limited. I might call and ask the store beforehand, quite frankly.

I have read SOME people with 2D's actually got them shipped on time, but it looks like they didn't get anywhere near the number they actually needed. I'll give them a little time to see if it shows up, but for now, I went to Walmart and got it for $20.

I don't know about Target, but when I was in Best Buy today, they only had the exclusive 2D Blu-ray which comes with the key. The green slipbox is still the same, it's just wrapped along with the box that the key comes in. Even then, they only had 3 on the shelves when I walked in (I bought one of them). That version is $29.99. I'm not even sure if Best Buy carries the non-exclusive 2D version. I didn't see it on their site.

They do, but it seems like they may not be getting many in. I went to my Best Buy on my lunch break to pick up a regular 2D copy and they had zero copies of the movie out in any form. I had to ask and an employee went out back and got the box. They had a handful of regular 2D, a handful of the "Thorin's Key" exclusive and then a good amount of the 3D version. The rest of the box was copies of An Unexpected Journey.

Just to let you knows the 3D version is $39.96 at Wal-Mart. I put it back as I refuse to pay more than $30.

It's $32.95 when you buy it on Walmart.com and reserve it for in store pick up (depending on store inventory). But yes, I understand it's still a high price.

My local Walmart doesn't seem to be carrying it believe it or not.

Had an "unexpected journey" today locating a blu-ray that didn't have some kind of box damage. Target put those stupid black security wire wraps around all of their copies that were indenting the box on four sides. Ugh

I went to walmart and they only had three copies of the blu-ray (but about 25 of the DVD only edition) ... all but ONE had it where the title print on the side was off center (a lot) and made my OCD go into rage mode.

I got the one copy of the 2D edition that was ok though (I wasn't paying double the price for a 3D disc) so all is well now.

Was that the tag price or what it rang up as at the register? Wal-Mart doesn't always show the register price on the tag. For instance, when I bought the Winter Soldier 3D blu-ray it showed $28 on the tag, but rang up for $19.99. I've had this happen a bunch at Wal-Mart, because they rarely put any kind of temporary sale price tag on their racks nor on their electronic items so you don't know the actual price til they ring the item up.

Got mine! Listening to the audio commentary now. I might be doing a Extended Edition rewatch party with friends, so I'll save watching it without until then.

I preorded a non-exclusive 2D Blu from Amazon. I remember last year they apparently understocked the EE of AUJ and it sold out far too quickly and they had to reissue it. Wouldn't be surprised if a similar delay is going on with the exclusive, where there's not enough of the set ready to ship. Which was pretty short-sighted, if that's the case.
