This may have been closer to the original story, but eveything about the film was terrible. Easily Burton's worst film, Easily Depp's worst performance, terrible CGI, sorry excuse for Ompa Loompas and just a bunch of rediculousness. Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory wasn't just great because of Wilder's performance, it has heart, it makes you feel something, the characters are relateable and there is an atmosphere to the film. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory had NONE of theses qualities.

If you think this is Burton's worst movie then you have not seen Dark Shadows.

And the Oompa Loompas were fine.

The only reason people hate this movie is because of nostalgia. Yes, Wilder is fantastic in it. However, the Oompa Loompas looked horrible. Plus, I don't care for the golden goose room over the squirrel.
