It doesn't matter what the movie's subtitle is.

This is the Star Wars movie we have all been hoping they would make since 1984.

They could call it 'The Clownshoe Assfactory' for all I care.

I'd be quite upset with that title.

Episode VII seems to deal with the idea that The Force might be more than what the wisest Jedi and Sith originally thought or imagined. The new antagonist might be on the hunt for Luke (and what remains of Vader), believing he can gain access to more powerful abilities through the strongest Force users still around.

In that context, the announced title is fine without being spectacular. I did like 'The Ancient Fear' as well though.

Still an unnecessary sequel. The story ended at Jedi.

Most film sequels are unnecessary. Doesn't stop me enjoying them.

The narrative ended when Vader threw Palpatine down the shaft and sacrificed his life for the love of his son.

I'm not saying that I won't see it. My expectations are just extremely low and I won't be deceived by Jar Jar Abrams clever marketing tricks. Older, jaded fans of the Prequels are getting nostalgic and I think it's too soon to get your guard down.

Abrams is only a place holder until Rian Johnson moves in.

Unless the film addresses the whole Darth Plagueis thing and Anakin's creation...if Plagueis is still around, then there's a meta-villain that Palpatine thought he killed, but didn't, and is a crazy powerful Sith Lord and is essentially Luke Skywalker's grandpa.

Yep. It'd be great if the new movie took that direction because it'd validate the prequels once and for all, and stick the finger up at the fanboys who pine for reboots of those movies. They might even mention midichlorians and the rest of the stuff that Lucas came up with. I've mentioned before about how it's my hope that these movies somehow bridge the gap between prequels and the originals.

I'm hoping they address it, also, as it is a giant story chunk missing from Revenge of the Sith that would have gone a long, long way to "redeeming" all that midi talk in Phantom Menace. They were brought up for a reason...as a mystery clue that something really messed up was going on regarding Anakin's existence. Anakin learning he was created by the Sith was supposed to be part of the process of his decision to serve Palpatine. He was living proof that the Sith could create life, so it would seem plausible to Anakin to learn the Dark Side to save his wife/keep her from death.

So yeah...I'm on Team Plagueis (especially if Max Von Sydow is going to play him). Lots of potential here to tie up the unresolved story threads in the prequels. We keep seeing this cyborg looking thing in the SW7 concept art. What if that's Plagueis? Terribly maimed and needing machinery to live (a Star Wars staple)...and that shot of the cyborg holding Vader's charred helmet? What if that's Plagueis basically holding the helmet of his son? "The Force Awakens" then has dual meaning...Plagueis returning, and Luke returning from his self-imposed exile to deal with him.

Something like that would be utterly fantastic.

I hope they are able to fix and fill in the problems caused by the prequels and not create new ones.

As someone who saw the originals in the theater as a kid, I hope they ignore the prequels and just tell good stories within the universe, instead of the seemingly constant use of exposition about "how" that universe works like the prequels tried.

I have no expectations of that, I never thought these movies would happen anyway at this point in my life. The prequels just reminded me that I wasn't a kid seeing Star Wars at the drive-in anymore, and there's no way to put my mind back into that mode of innocent naivity. Of course I'll see them to see the characters I adored growing up, but I expect something along the lines of the recent Indiana Jones movie, which had hints of the old charm but ultimately felt empty and unnecessary.

I wouldn't say it's about "fixing" anything, it's taking the wider mythology that Lucas only hinted at in the prequels (dude bit off FAR more than he could chew and ultimately he pussied out because of all the fanboy wailing about the midis and so on) and running with it to create another 3-film arc that is still intrinsically linked with the Skywalker clan.
