The Connery Bond flick "Never Say Never" consistently goes for around $80 - $100. Same with the 1st US release of the Godzilla flick "Destroy All Monsters" with the multiple English language dub tracks. Both BDs could be had for around $10 when they were released.

That would be much appreciated It's one of the few foreign flicks I've even been able to get friends to watch. Very underrated.

So expensive, they can't even put it on blu-ray:

[Show spoiler]

In all seriousness, just look at AmazonJP. With the Yen trading so high, everything over there is very expensive compared to US prices.

the reason for that is not really the Yen. while in the US and EU/UK people think about bluray movies like pokemon cards (gotta catch em all) its fairly different in japan.

they still use cinemas with 35mm projectors a lot. renting DVDs/blurays is still used ALOT. like vhs in the 80/90s over here.

prices on blurays are usually high but are (most of the time) high quality releases with max bitrates etc.

space in japan (asian countrys) might be another issue that they price there stuff so high. people prefer renting / streaming movies since they are living in small flats and cant really afford to have huge collections.

another thing to consider with japanese (and korean ) releases is that if they are "limited" in some way they are usually really limited and a lot of times there is no "normal" edition after the collectors item sold out. its totally different to the US market. (1 ultra limited run steelbooks is sold out and there is gonna be a second and third run of the same or very similar looking steelbook 2 months later for 9,99$)

NSNA has dropped dramatically now that there isn't a NEW bond flick and the bond 50 box set is old news. it went crazy due to people wanting EVERY bond film. 20-40 is ballpark.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time averages 100-140, and i'm not talking amazon listings, as those are BS. SOLD EBAY LISTINGS.

Jin-Roh the Wolf Brigade MAY be the most valuable BD due to rarity of the domestic release, how short a print run it had before studio went kaput. 500 a copy is LOW.

Space Ace just had a copy sell today for 180, leaked copies of the Kino Black Sabbath set are hitting 60 right now, Blade Runner and Inception briefcases hit over 100 regularly, Walking Dead zombie head 200-400 (the mask version of season 1 just had a sale for 140), and the Lion King's trilogy box set hits 100+. That's not even counting stuff like the Dr Who giftset at 300+, or the Lost set, which, with packaging, can sell for over 300.

do an ebay search for Blu-ray OOP, and look at sold listings only. any a-hole can ask 10,000 for their copy of Rampart, but to SELL one for that much, that shows the market.

Suicide Girls: Guide to Living also draws insane prices for how HORRIBLE it is. hopefully the price tag scares away people from wasting their time on that garbage.

Nightbreed CE is expensive IMO...not sure it is OOP already, but it will not get any cheaper. Also, highly unlikely to get a foreign release.

'Never Say Never' can be had for less the $10 from Amz UK...same disc and region-free....I doubt it's now fetching such high prices since it got an identical UK release.

Technically speaking, the UK disc is not identical (as the "horse jumping off a cliff" scene is partially cut due to BBFC regs on animal stunts).

Of course, there is another release of Never Say Never Again that was released in Japan and Germany that is region-free, readily available, and uncut. It does have a slightly lower video bit-rate than the US release (35mbps vs 32mbps) and is missing the photo gallery, but is otherwise quite satisfactory in terms of quality and price (right now you can get the German release for €10.30, or $12.86 including shipping to the US).

Thanks- did not know about the missing scene. I know the BBFC censors are very strict on that stuff.
I can understand some hardcore collector's wanting the uncut version.

I'm selling my copy at the moment for $75 if any one's interested.
Damn, glad I snagged a used copy off Amazon earlier this year for like 17 bucks. Great and underrated British TV show.

Now if I can just get my hands on a copy of Tomboy(1985) for a reasonable price I'll be happy.

I bought it new for $22.99 during a lightning Amazon sale a couple of years ago. Had buyers remorse (until now that is ) since I thought I may not ever get around to watching it.

I think my most expensive Blu-ray purchase is the Japanese release of the Thunderbirds TV show. About $310 for the 8 disc set, but it's the only one that's OAR so I had to have it.

I watched mine right after I purchased it, but it had been nearly 20+ years since I lasted watched the show. I rented the shows from Video Factory (they were bought out by Blockbuster years later) on VHS in the early 90's.

Yeah I'll have to make time to watch it one of these days (I did watch an episode and thought it was very good, but other BF purchases were competing for my viewing attention and you know how that goes ).
