Yet another reason why I decided to give Amazon my money and wait for this title until the 20th. They slack a LOT when it comes to putting out releases on time. And this happens at stores all over, so the way they do their business as far as putting stuff out in a timely manner overall has to be poor.

Of course nobody around Blu-Rays to help. What threw me off was the e-mail Oh yeah make sure not come any earlier than 2 days ago, even though I did the order today. And in the same e-mail, they were advertising the $5 off DVD or Blu over 14.99 that expired A MONTH AGO!!!

Suspense IMO is NOT KNOWING what is going to happen.

In these horror films (Others, Orphanage, BLair Witch, Shining, etc), you DO KNOW what is happening, but just ARENT SHOWN IT - YOU IMAGINE IT - which is far more terrifying.

THink of it like this: if I showed you a picture of a hot chick v. told you to IMAGINE YOUR VERSION of a hot chick - which would be hotter? YOUR IMAGINED VERSION of course!! Same with horror films and Images in our head >>>> scarier than Images on the screen

My Best buy here in town had them out early. I love when that happens. Hard to resist the $9.99 price tag so I walked out with one today. Beats having to wait until the 20th too.

For such a big company, you would think:

1 - They would have their EXCLUSIVE early releases on the shelf, and even in a prominent place, by the time the store opened.

2 - Would make sure at the very least, that their emails they send out to everyone wouldn't include expired offers.

Ah well.

I was able to get my local best buy to price match the B&N 6.74 online price for this today.

I got my copy at Best Buy today it was pf course not in the New release section but in the regular blu-ray isle. Took me a bit to find as my loca Best Buy can be very disorganized when it comes to blus/dvds

I checked BB yesterday and couldn't find any. They checked the inventory and showed 3 copies on hand, but they searched and searched and didn't find them.

This is typical of Best Buy! They are so disorganized, I don't know how they can find anything. I know where everything is located, better than their employees do, and I don't even work there. Those three copies were somewhere in the store, they just didn't know where, that's all. I'll guarantee, they were there! I've got The Others, and also, I picked up: Galaxy Quest, and Top Gun for $9.99 as well.

Scoop it up, you won't be disappointed. Drags a tad in the beginning, but holds your interest throughout --- and delivers in the end.

Ditto! Generally I wasn't too keen on Nicole Kidman, but after seeing her in The Others, I was very impressed with her performance. She was good!

I am not a fan of Nicole Kidman either and I agree, I was very impressed with her performance too! That is Nicole's best movie!

Dont go into the film thinking it's a horror film, cause it's not. If blood and gore is anyone's choice, forget it, you wont find that here. No slaughtering, no butchernig and no blood spillage.

HOWEVER.....

If creepy ghost stories with great plots, wonderful characters and awesome suspense works for you...then THE OTHERS could offer you great entertainment.

For me, it was like a tribute to the old-style Hitchcock story-telling. It takes it's time to build, no rush, but it developes charactors that make you care about them. It's not like most thrillers that throw in some random teenagers or helpless typical female lead that you dont care about, this really builds characters. Then, these charcters begin to unravel on you as the suspense begins to grow.

Some say it's a bit slow in the first half, I thought it was very well-paced and very well thought-out. Pure enjoyment.
