Sideshow Collectibles. Think international delivery fees + duty taxes + FEDEX "release fees" + credit card conversion fees.

Jesus H. That's like $175 above the price of the figures. Ridiculous.

Well, to be fair, that $700 figure was an estimate a bit on the high end to help soften the blow when my credit card finally gets charged. The only definitive value I know at this time is an approximate shipping of $50 across both (since they are being shipped separately). I'm guessing the total after all is said and done will be $670, but I'm preparing for $700 just in case.

$700 sounds about right after HST alone you're at $593 combined, separate shipments and FedEx brokerage fees could easily set you back another $100. Any reason you don't use any of the Canadian re-sellers? Are you after the additional items Sideshow offers with their EX versions?

I opted to go through http://www.superpowercollectibles.com, combined from them after HST and shipping will be about $576.

I absolutely love these figures. So far, I own the Reeve Superman, and the two Batman(1989) figures, but I've owned the DX 01 Joker, DX 02 Batman, and Batsuit Begins Batman in the past. The new DX Joker looks stellar from the final product pics, and I can't wait for it to start shipping here in the states.

I'm also particularly excited about their new products that are on the way. Mainly, the Arkham City and Man of Steel figures, and the The Dark Knight Rises dioramas.

If you order from toys2.net or superpowercollectibles.com (this place has free us/can shipping) and both are located in Canada. Not to mention prices sre generally cheaper then what SS charged.

You should really check those places out before buying from SS.

Well, I guess I'll consider those places in the future if I ever expand beyond my current collection. But, in this case, I already have $60 in non-refundable deposits made and am confident in my queue spot.

The main reason I chose to go with Sideshow is because any places I found locally who were selling these were selling for approximately the same price as I'd be paying from Sideshow anyhow. After all, resellers need to make profit on these things, right? So, I chose to save money by losing the middleman and going to the official Hot Toys representative.

understandable. That's one thing I do not like about SS, the NRD.

But you should know that toys2.net is an Official HT distributor here in Canada. So if you have any QC issues, they fix it for you no problem. They are an awesome place to buy from. THe one thing I don't like is that for North America, SS is the only place to get the exclusives (ie. kryptonite necklace for Superman, Clown Mask for Joker DX, etc)

I have a question. Why do people insist on attaching and using the part of the stand that hooks in between the figures legs? I have some Hot Toys figures and they stand just fine without the hook. I use the stand but never the hook part. That always take away from the realism. If the figures do not need it to stand up are people just foolishly using it because it came in the box? Maybe they figure if it comes with the figure it must be used at all cost?

I guess I can only speak for myself but I assume others would have similar thoughts but the stand/hook gives the figures more support and less of a chance of falling over. Way better option than taking the risk of just balancing the figure and taking the risk of them toppling over and getting damaged especially considering how expensive Hot Toys' figures are.

It'd be nice if Hot Toys made that part of the stand from clear plastic to make it a little less noticable

I've never used them, I think they ruin a lot of the realism of the figures. I use a Besta case from Ikea with a door on it, so the farthest fall the figure is going to take is from its own height. So far though they've all been pretty sure footed.

I use them because I do not need them falling over, I am not even going to chance it. Especially with how much these figures have gone up in price.

I have 2 year old twin girls who run around and love looking at the figures and some times tap/bang on the glass of my detolf’s, I just wish they either made them so the hook goes around the waist, or even made it out of clear plastic so its less noticeable.

I don’t think that people are “foolishly” using them because they come with the figure, but than again why would anyone else care how some one else choose to set up their collection?

I don't think the stands really take away that much from the figure. To me the stands are a nice touch and sort of complete the figure. I particularly like ones that are unique to the character like the DX12 Batman's snowy courthouse steps or Bane's rusted platform stand. The black ones are a little basic but are okay.

On most of the figures I have I don't really find the hooks that noticeable. Maybe because most of the ones I own have darker clothing so the black from the hook just sort of goes with it but I don't have a problem with the bases at all.

I guess I can understand if you're wanting to set up a diorama or something that's a different story and in that case I could see not using the stands. For just general displays though I think they work fine.

The stands are fine. I love my DX12 stand. I was just talking about the crotch hook part of it. Sorry about using the word foolish in my first post.
