That GIF is awesome.

I think he probably just wants to let loose, see what he can do with this sort of flick. I don't blame the guy. And he's never let me down yet -- well, I wasn't a big fan of Panic Room. But I also haven't seen it since it was in theaters; maybe I was just in a bad mood that day. It definitely needs to be given a second chance.

But Fincher is a master filmmaker IMO, so I'm curious to see where he goes with this.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which, when you get down to it, is a fairly conventional thriller, somehow ended up costing $100 million, over half WWZ's budget. So how much is this gonna cost? Will we end up with a smaller-scale movie that costs roughly the same as the first? Or will Paramount keep Fincher's budgets on a tighter leash?
I believe he'll bring more of the horror into this film, similar to what we saw with the final act of WWZ. That can reduce costs.

Zombies will continue to rise from the dead throughout film history much like Vampires and Ghosts/Demons. But I agree, I like when they stumble around slowly though the hordes piling over each other was something I haven't seen too often (much like the upcoming PS4 Days Gone). That's one reason I liked the ending of World War Z, as they were shambling around that hospital.

Fincher probably joined after the first sequel, Lost City of Z, started getting critical acclaim. Now that this franchise has a bit of prestige with Lost City of Z it's probably opened up the doors to more "credible" directors to jump on board.

I wonder if we'll see Hunnam's character interact with Pitt's character.

Guess I finally have to get around to watching World War Z. Glad my first experience with it will be the, apparently, more intense Unrated Cut.

House party thing? Ok now the social skills comments from you make more sense. World War Z was a fantastic movie. Well on the bright side if the zombie apocalypse takes place you'll be fine without social interaction.

WWZ 2 will hopefully take Pitt on another adventure as with WWZ 1. He covered a lot of ground and locations in that film. The 3D in it was medium to high medium 3D layers, some pop outs, some strong 3D.

I didn't read the WWZ book, is Lost City of Z connected to World War Z? I'm surprised, I thought Lost City of Z was a drama film that had nothing to do with the running dead. When do the zombies appear?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_City_of_Z_(film)
To be serious though, Lost City of Z is a dramatic film that has nothing to do with World War Z, though I can definitely imagine some will be wondering about why there's a Z in the title.

What does Lost City of Z have to do with World War Z other than sharing the letter 'Z' in their titles?

There's certainly canonical debate as to whether the two take place on the same timeline. I suppose only this next entry into the series shall answer this question...

I think the only thing in common was Pitt was in talks to star in Lost City of Z. That's it. These movies aren't connected.

David Fincher confirmed to direct Brad Pitt's World War Z sequel

Looks like it’s finally official: director David Fincher will reunite with Brad Pitt on the sequel to ‘World War Z.’

Fincher, who previously worked with Pitt on ‘Fight Club’ and ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ had long been rumoured to be the top choice to call the shots on the follow-up to the 2013 zombie epic. In April of this year, the director was said to be close to reaching a deal for the job, but nothing had been heard since.

However, it has now been confirmed by no less an authority than the recently appointed head of production at Paramount, Jim Gianopulos, who tells The Hollywood Reporter that the studio are “in advanced development” on the ‘World War Z’ sequel, with Fincher directing and Pitt starring.

It will be Fincher’s second sequel, after his 1992 debut ‘Alien³.’

Based on the novel by Max Brooks, 2013’s ‘World War Z’ was directed by Marc Forster (‘Quantum of Solace’) and was by all accounts a nightmarish production. Extensive script revisions and reshoots saw it miss its original December 2012 release date by six months.

Despite this, ‘World War Z’ wound up being met with a largely positive critical response, and worldwide box office takings of $540 million. As such, a sequel was soon mooted, and was originally pencilled in for a June 2017 release.

However, the fate of the ‘World War Z’ sequel also looked uncertain when Paramount pulled it from its schedule entirely in February of this year – but it would seem it’s getting back on track.

No release date or official title for the ‘World War Z’ sequel have been announced at present.

I liked World War Z but felt the producers were pushing their luck by going for a sequel...but with David Fincher directing, I'm all in!

Not a big Fincher fan but I loved World War Z, so I hope the sequel is just as good.

I'd consider Fincher an improvement over Forrester.

I'm hope they bring back that Iranian soldier with the one hand.

Well, to be fair, I have enjoyed some of this stuff. Alien 3 isn't as bad as its reputation suggests, although it's my least-favorite of the series. The Game was cool but I remain undecided over whether I love or hate the ending. Panic Room was a little tedious at times but otherwise suspenseful. And I absolutely love The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. So I don't completely dislike him; he's just not a favorite.

He's definitely not nearly as terrible and overrated a director as Quentin Tarantino. *dons flame-retardant suit*
