I'll want this eventually but I own seasons 1-5 on Vudu and 6-8 on bd already. It's also going to be on Netflix for at least two more years.

This affords me the ability to be more patient than I usually am. Maybe a USA release with lossless audio comes about and icing on the cake it also has the Massive Attack theme.

Nice to have the other options, though, because if I didn't, I'm sure I'd just buy the set now.

I was going to order the French set too, with the hope of DTS-HD MA track. But after doing some research, I bought the UK set.

In the UK set and I have found multiple ratings from many EU countries plastered on the discs.

Wouldn't hold out much hope for lossless audio on the French set though, as the discs in the UK set do have the French ratings plastered on them... (Accord Parental). Translation: Parental Guidance.

Plus: after choosing language, the disc menu utilises pictograms (ie. Main Menu, Play All, Episodes, Audio & Subtitle buttons are represented by symbols)
Example: Home pictogram for Main Menu, Play button for Play, Book pictogram for Chapters etc.

My advice to House fans out there, grab the UK set at this price point while you still can, as IMO I don't think a lossless set will be coming out any time soon. Watched S1Ep1, PQ is awesome (5/5) and AQ is great as the DTS lossy holds up well. (4/5).

At least they're uniform and secure. The cover art fits the spines almost perfectly other than only being BD height. Works for me.

Second gripe. WTF disc art? They slapped those stupid rating emblems all over the place, and the discs don't even say what goddamn season they are!!
Box design is cool, just wish they went for smaller individual season disc cases (space is becoming a real issue for me).

The trays they used do make it harder to close the cases. But overall it is not that much trouble.

Interesting that the discs do not have season numbers, but you can match the season with the picture on the front cover (ie. The picture of House on the disc and the colour matches the picture on the front of the season cover (and colour matches).

And as I commented before, 'tis annoying about each individual disc as the disc has ratings symbols from multiple countries (including France).

Adieu.

I just pulled the trigger on this. Around £8 a season, that's cheap!

I've watched seasons 2-5 from this set and they have the right theme. I don't care about 6-8 since I have the US blu of those. Maybe some people should get their info straight or keep quiet.

The right theme for Europeans. Which in itself was a deviation from the original US theme.

What's on Seasons 2-5 is the Singaporean version of the theme, which was used throughout Europe. Hence, right for Europeans, wrong for North Americans - although the alternative theme(s) are used across some streaming services.

Admiral Akbar's post on the previous page has the three different versions of the theme tune - the first one, is how it aired in the States. That's the Massive Attack track 'Teardrop' - the second one, the Singaporean variant, is what we got in Europe due to licencing issues. The third one which is supposedly the European version, I think was only used for the first season.

For people over here I'd imagine that they've only ever known the Singaporean version of the theme as that's how it aired on Sky. Anyone who watched the show at US-pace though, it's 'Teardrop'.

Well, I didn't notice a difference, so I'm good. I'm still pissed about shows like Las Vegas that used a drastically different theme from TV to DVD release. It pisses me off even more when a the music is too expensive for DVD license despite the singer being ****ing DEAD!

Yep, it's irritating.

Not just the themes either - the likes of Quantum Leap and Roswell had a lot of the music used throughout the series replaced.

The only saving grace there is that without the changes, the show's wouldn't have been released onto DVD, so I guess it's better than that. But still, irritating obviously.

Yeah, that great US sitcom, Married With Children, had Frank Sinatra singing Love & Marriage over the titles, but on the DVD's it was replaced with some horrible electric thing.

I got the box today & the first episode I checked is out of sound sync! Three, maybe four frames. It's series one, the first episode on disc three. The other episodes on that disc are OK, & I've checked around 15 other episodes from various seasons, & they're all OK. I'd think they're all the same, would anyone else who has the box like to check?

Has anyone ordered the french version? Really interested to see if the specifications are right in that there are Nordic subtitles + DTS-HD audio.

I don't have it in hands to check what's on disc, but I stumbled in stores on the Benelux sets from seasons 1 to 8 and they all state English DTS 5.1 (same for dubs).

My UK set arrived, and on the assumption that the audio information on the back of each season is correct, I have removed the UK discs of seasons 6, 7, and 8, and replaced them with the USA discs. So, if the UK 6, 7, and 8 really do not have DTS-HD Master Audio, now my set does have it for those seasons.

Of course there might be other differences like unskippanle or skippable FBI (MI6?) warnings and all the other sh-t that gets stacked in front of the episodes, so I am not sure if I should send the UK 6, 7, and 8 to Goodwill just yet.

And I am a little curious about if the theme music is different etc.

Basically I will be watching his thread in case someone with more attention to detail than myself lists the differences.

The box is nice, the individual cases are thicker than they need have been (but still better than the cardboard monstrosities that the U.S. got).

All in all looks good.

In the UK we get FBI (despite them only operating in the US), FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) and possibly Interpol warnings, MI5 and MI6 are national security agencies, closer to the CIA than the FBI. Our FBI equivalent would be the National Crime Agency, but I don't think they deal with piracy.

Cool, thanks for the info. On some BBC America releases we get a really cute, entertaining anti-piracy commercial. Only BBC America takes that approach. The others basically try to imply you'll be thrown into a dark hole and maybe shot, if you rent a movie and copy it.

In the UK we generally get this excessive, borderline comical affair...
