Of course it would affect them. If the dynamic range is different and the factory settings have been tweaked by someone, you will not get the same result. This is why comparisons can be done only on properly calibrated sets.

Everyone is focusing far too much on my captures and the technical aspects of them. As I keep suggesting, just pop in the disc and watch the special features on the BD. The clips from the film used in the special features do not have the black crush. You can toggle back and forth between any shot from the film in the clips and that same shot in the main feature and see the difference, it's enormous and undeniable.

Just because they're different doesn't necessarily mean anything, really. Could be the Special Features were put together before a final color correction of the film was done, similar to how some trailers are (The Dark Knight trailer has a completely different color scheme than the blu-ray). Not saying this is the case, and it most likely isn't, but it's in no way outside the realm of the plausible.

The deleted scenes don't have the final colour correction but the clips used in the special features appear to have the final grading. Here is a comparison between an ungraded shot and the final film for reference

Point? Many websites don't want to be cut off from getting future BDs if they go negative.

Anything is always conceivable. However for THE INTERVIEW, the Ultraviolet version, the Netflix version and the clips used in the special features all match, with only the BD feature version the outlier in terms of being massively darker. And, as I've stressed, I saw the film in theaters twice, less than two months ago, and I remember it looking like the UV/Netflix/featurette version, and not the BD version.

I'm going to contact the representatives for the DP this afternoon and try to get him involved. Perhaps he decided to adjust the film for the BD, and this is his preferred version. Again, anything is conceivable. however when he weighs in, there will be no more questions.
