Kinda looks like the bridging gap between John Carter and Juipter Ascending. It looks fun but I'm not nearly as giddy as most of the rest of you.

In terms of visuals it looks derivative of every space opera I've ever seen. 40% Star Wars prequels, 30 % The Fifth Element, 20% John Carter, 10% Avatar. Boring !

it's an adaptation of an old famous French comic book series "Valerian and Laureline"

looks to be interesting to me. I'm gonna give it a chance and not make assumptions it's going to be something bad until I've seen it. I'm a Luc fan and so far, he hasn't let me down yet.

it also reminds me of several stories that have appeared in the Adult Magazine (and animated movie by the same name) Heavy Metal!

That redhead in the picture looks more emotive than Cara Delvigne seems to exhibit as an actress. I just don't think she's a good actress. Dehaan kinda takes me out of it a little because I see him more of a supporting guy but he did front Chronicle and it was decent.

Luc Besson hasn't delivered anything truly outstanding in years, but I'm liking the look of this so far. Count me as cautiously optimistic.

In short the original story was release in 1967-68 in a serial form in a kid monthly journal. What we call BD "bande dessine" in French usually was release in this format before going into one volume hard covers. The story of this is Valerian is part of time unit from the future and in the first story meet's Laureline a 13th century girl during a mission. They join force and have multiple adventures from that point. The movie look's interesting and since I have all the albums you can bet I will check it out. I am not sure that it will catch on however
