I love the fact that the only place you can purchase the set is Amazon and the Digital HD codes that come with it can't even be redeemed on Amazon's service

The spine of the current set is no where near as thick as the spine for the upcoming ultimate edition set

This is where the marketing campaign for Bond started to go south, at least for me. They really didn't know how to sell Licence To Kill. And the move away from artwork is disappointing but unfortunately the way of the future. Starting with Licence To Kill, most Bond poster campaigns with rare exceptions became photoshop jobs. Compare the above with say the inspired marketing of Live and Let Die. No contest really...

Given this is a MGM/Fox release it's likely the digital copy will be UV only.

I'm not sure if it's the very young Bond fans that seem to prefer the photograph stills as Blu Ray sleeve artwork. Whereas, the more mature audience might prefer the original artwork to appear on the front cover, instead.
I think the GoldenEye theatrical poster had a bit of a classic look to it: ![]() After that; Tomorrow Never Dies onwards, the new design format for poster artwork featuring photographic images from the film, instead of hand drawn images, became the future: ![]() |

I actually picked up the 27 x 40 poster of this version at the time of the films release. I liked it much better than the US versions. Still, it's not nearly as good as some of the earlier Bond posters.

It's Bond related. No more news on the coming release, so what do you want us to talk about? Would you rather the thread remained dormant? Some of us are actually enjoying the conversation about how the Bond films were marketed in the past. I know, I know...some of us forgot to use spoiler tags..is that it?

I don't usually care about going off-topic but it is kind of annoying to load the thread looking for new info and be spammed with huge VHS cover images for no apparent reason.
Though on that topic I do have to say it's a shame MGM/EON/Fox don't use the amazing poster art that exists for these movies. That and the annoying Bond 50 packaging are the best arguments out there for using custom covers. |
