Some people just seem to hate Topher Grace on reflex. I can't say I had a problem with him in Predators, which I thought was a very fun sci-fi flick. Not a classic like the original, but sequels rarely are.

I agree his character was pretty ridiculous and illogical, but I'd put Vincent D'Onofrio as Hoskins in Jurassic World as most embarrassingly awful. I laugh out loud anytime his character walks on screen. Like a bad caricature of a South Park "they took 'ur jebs!" redneck character that is somehow in charge of a billion dollar company's secretive private military branch.

Yes, the 1080p master has been updated. I was watching it again last night in 1080p via Mum's Apple TV, and it still looks tremendous.

Can't wait to see what a lick of HDR brings to the 4K image.

I wonder when the US pre-order will go up. Do these type of catalog releases get a pre-order early or much closer to the release date?

Awesome. I just bought a Apple TV 4K myself (even though I am a 1080p user). How much of an upgrade is it next to the solid 2008 BD?

I did a direct comparison once, the difference is vast. Grain looks better resolved on the remastered Apple TV stream and carries the appearance of a new scan.

It’s gonna look sexy on disc!

If they can make a new cut that increases Danny Trejo's role and deletes Laurence Fishburne entirely, I may be interested.

Even though the apple 4K is a stream, are there any comparison pics versus the current poor blu ray?

Also I saw an original 35mm print of this last year and while it did have damage the most surprising thing was the colour palette. It had very natural, earthy tones; the Jungle did not look green-green if you know what I mean, like how the current blu ray & TV versions look.

Damn I only want the first two in 4K.

Watched Predator again last night...it hasn't lost it one bit. And if you lose it here you're in a world of hurt.

Dang....Fox just better not screw the first movie up. Why do I feel like I have a better chance to win the lottery than ever get a proper 4k uhd of Predator?

You've got a better chance of a "proper" 4K UHD of a classic movie from Fox than you have for a movie from Universal, put it that way.

For sure. But I’m fairly confident that Fox isn’t going to screw the pooch with the first film’s release. There’s always a chance but they do pretty solid on UHD and Die Hard brings hope.

Universal's found a way to be last place for catalog titles on yet another format. Great.

I'm starting to think that the two 4K Mummies - which look lovely - were some sort of huge anomaly, that the people who are usually responsible for wrecking Universal's transfers were on holiday that week or something. But now....theeeeeeeeey're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

Somehow, I have a hunch Universal could even screw up a UHD Blu-ray of the phenomenal Spartacus restoration.

Oh, don't say that. Please don't say that. Spartacus is one of the greatest restorations there's ever been IMO, it doesn't get the headlines like Lawrence or Godfather or whatever but by Christ the Blu-ray is phenomenal. Give us a 2160p version of that, SDR grade and all, and I'd be happy beyond words.
