On top of that they gave me the thing for free so I let bygones be bygones until recently where they did it again with a steelbook I ordered recently

They gave me a gift card for mine, i had to go to another store that had like 10 copies on hand. I have a feeling my closest store is going to be shut down soon.

Just received it. Will watch tonight for Saturday movie night. Looks nice! The discs have a nice texture. They give you a little finger massage while you are putting it in the tray. Fortunately, arrived seemingly in good shape and undented.

Wow! The 4K PQ of this disc is amazing I actually think the film is kinda fun despite all of the shrugs it gets.

Saw the same thing at my bestbuy i kid you not. They all had that exact same tear of the j card and I mean they all had it.

Durant is in Massachusetts. Are you in mass by any chance as well?

I picked up mine at my local BB (Boston) and my J-Card was also messed up like that. Did not go to the movie section to check the others though.

Same deal was at the Manchester NH and Danvers, MA BestBuy so maybe that tear is localized to New England

Durant I think is in Abington, MA

I can't tell too well from the picture, but is the tear you are describing just a tear in the J-card on the front or is it also accompanied by a dent underneath?

If there is no damage underneath, it doesn't sound too bad, assuming you plan to open the steel and don't care about the J-card of course.

No dents surprisingly, so I’m guessing something happened during manufacturing which caused all the tears.

I'm going to hold off on this one hoping for a price drop. While out doing a Disc Reply run through northern IL yesterday, I stopped by 3 different Best Buy stores and they all had serious quantity of this steelbook... like 25+ at each store.

Interestingly, none had the flaws/damage depicted above.

I was just at Best Buy yesterday and saw the same thing had happened with the Friday 13th Part 2 steelbook. The J-card was torn in the same way and was somehow overlapping over the shrinkwrap.

It does seem like a factory/packaging issue only - no visible damage to the actual steelbooks.

Most SteelBooks being released lately in the US have been having some sor of quality control issue, I have seen many Dredd and Godzilla cases with the corners dented, Wonder Woman and Lovecraft County had j-cards mangled, Lovecraft Country had a line pressed on the cases.

What’s best is they keep asking top dollar for these releases but they don’t care what shape they sell them.

Finally got my 2 steelbooks in on the 12th after waiting almost 2 weeks for them to be shipped. Best Buy shipped them in a silver/gray bubble mailer but thankfully there wasn't any visible damage but haven't really opened them to examine them closer. Best Buy gave me a $15.00 E-Gift Card for my troubles, hopefully it doesn't expire before I am ready to use it.

Yep I’ve been to like 6 and they are all fully loaded. They can’t give them away. I can’t wait too get it for $15 I think it’s cuz so many already watched it when it released on HBOMAX
