Maybe this will encourage Disney to release their Muppet movies on 4K Blu-Ray? I mean, The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, and The Muppet Christmas Carol can all currently be streamed with 4K Dolby Vision on Disney+.

Hell yeah!! This is fantastic news!! I'm very excited for this one. I love this movie, already own the 2011 BD, but I won't hesitate to double dip for this one, it'll be worth it. The 2011 BD already looked good, I cannot even begin to imagine how fantastic the new 4K transfer will be, specially knowing Sony is the best of the best in the department. I will happily buy this as soon as possible. And it comes on my birthday month too! Dolby Vision, original audio.. new commentary! Couldn't ask for more. Thank you, Sony. I will be rewarding the effort with my money.

Here's hoping Muppets from Space is next. I know it's a lesser movie, but I've been wanting to upgrade my DVD for years but I never got to buy the BD and now it's very OOP. (In Spain at least!)

Would also be good if we could finally get CAPER with the original, un-botched audio, which hasn't been heard since the early VHS and laserdisc editions.

But for now, MANHATTAN is nice.

Sounds like there were two mixes made, an early one for the UK theatrical release (which most video versions use) and a revised one for the US release by Universal (heard on some old US TV airings and post-1995 video releases). The 5.1 on DVD/BD sounds like the same mix but a 4.0 in a 5.1 container.

Caper is one of my favorite movies and Grodin's performance has a lot to do with it. All the jokes land for me, too. I suppose a bunch of hot women running around doesn't hurt... my inner Animal yelling "WOMAN!"

I assume it's all part of Disney's licensing and revenue formula: "Product X will stream on services A, B, and C successively for 36 months, or until sufficient viewership ratings exceed 80% of actuary value, then a physical release may be justified, etc."
