There's no such thing as "heavy DIALNORM" as DIALNORM is just setting the volume to a certain baseline. This baseline is consistent across all DIALNORMed titles, so there's no way to "heavily apply it." |

"The Bucket List" showed peaks of 38.8 on mine at the WB logo in the beginning of the film. The opening scene of the mountain showed peaks ABOVE 32+ as well. Grubert posted this thread about "The Bucket List" as well: Did Warner just increase video bitrates? (photo inside). "Fool's Gold" showed at least SEVERAL peaks into the 40s, multiple peaks into the mid to upper 30s, and average anywhere from the low teens to upper 20s. A quick look at "10,000 B.C." however showed no signs of BD bitrates in the time it took me to find MULTIPLE peaks on the other two films. However, I don't care what people say about "10,000 B.C.", it looks FAR more detailed than MOST of my WB Blu-ray titles. Heck, if only "Batman Begins" looked as detailed, I'd be MUCH happier with my re-purchase of that title. Likewise, "The Bucket List" and "Fool's Gold" are some of the BETTER WB titles I have in my collection... so if the PS3 bitrate meter is wrong, WB must have gotten their hands on a MUCH better VC-1 encoder... ~Alan |

Yes it was his last finished movie role. He was already into filming another film when he passed. And that movie I believe they said they are going to used other Hollywood A-lister's to finish the film by filling in for him which should be interesting to see.

I like DNR or any other tech that removes grain. Grain should be eliminated in as much as possible without significantly reducing the level of detail in the final product. Ever seen movies like Ultraviolet? That's where the future of motion pictures are headed, my friend.

PS, IMAX is currently negotiating with TI to get ... I think it was some kind of DLP tech that would allow for grain-less IMAX productions. Initially they were going to do something with some Sony product IIRC, but they went with TI (for now at least) instead.

As far as Batman Begins being made in a transition period, I'm sorry that's just an excuse. We need to stop letting WB off the hook. Universal went back and re-mastered The Mummy series and added lossless audio (in a matter of what, 10 months? For the record, I believe Universal started "working on/strategizing for" Blu last September). Why couldn't WB do the same thing? The Batman Begins HD DVD was released in October 2006. WB also knew the BD would be "delayed" and opted to wait for Profile 1.1 and the tie in to the theatrical release of The Dark Knight. They've known The Dark Knight was "Summer 2008" for a while, they've had over 1.5 yrs to change the eventual BD release of Batman Begins. They simply opted not to (do so). I thank WB for ending the life of HD DVD. However, they are by far the worst studio when it comes to quality of BD releases. They owe me nothing, I owe them nothing. As the other 5 studios ramp up BD production later in 2008 and into 2009, it is quite likely I'll simply "pass" on a lot of the marginal quality Warner has to offer, knowing that I'm not getting "the best it could be" (and wait for the double dip or for them to get their act together on the first release). "The movie was shot digitally on high-definition video using a Sony HDW-F900." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraviolet_%28film%29 I thought the movie itself was just OK. Didn't you think visually it was pretty good (haven't seen the BD)? Film will be obsolete and be replaced by video in the future and that means bye bye to grain. There wouldn't be any need to do DNR to remove grain since there wouldn't be any to begin with (that's my understanding at least) |

I have a very simple question, as i'm not sure if the source of this information is reliable. Can anyone confirm that all Warner Bros releases are in fact region free? I want to pick up the Gift Set of Batman Begins on Blu-Ray, but it's not being sold here (England). Can anyone confirm that it will play on my Blu-Ray player (PS3).

The rest of the film was shot 35MM anamorphic Panavision. So will Warner "tinker" with the rest of the film to achive a seamless look??? Quote:
