Very nice beta, I really dig the architecture of your place and it looks great painted. Job well done man.

I hear ya when you say you're running out of $$$. You can drop some serious cash on stuff like this. But once it's done, it'll be worth it to have the place the way you want it. Plus, you'll have your home theater!

Well not much new, but thanks to the help from some helpful folks on AVS, I found some seats I like for my budget theater...... (it's getting more BUDGET, and less THEATER every day!!!!)

Here's what I'm looking at.... they have a lot of nice THEATER seats, at good prices.... anyone in need of CHEAP theater seats.... this is the ticket.... plus they come un-assembled, so I can get them into my space.

With free shipping, that's something I might consider. I'm set up in a smaller room(11x12) so two couches are out of the question. But a row of three with two staggered behind might just do.

Maybe 1,300 or so ..... just DVD and Blu-ray..... I never really collected prior to the DVD days....... Mostly DVD obviously, as there aren't that many Blu-rays out yet that I feel the need to own (although my wish-list is still pretty long )

Updates coming..... I promise!!!! I sealed off all of the windows, connected the fronts (speaker wire going right down the middle of the floor right now though) and even watched a movie

Oh yeah..... I built a riser too

I'll give more details with the pictures (when I get around to taking them)

EDIT:

Ordered an extra 150' of 12g speaker-wire.... to be "prepared" for wiring issues

Default Update Time!

Here is the riser I made.... waiting to be trimmed-out (although I did a little already) and carpeted..... going to bolt two "Texas Rocker" theater chairs to the top of it...

HOLY SPEAKER WIRE BATMAN!

Obligatory "grill off" picture..... not sure why people like to see speakers without their grills....but here it is

I have a couple shelves of movies in my closet, and a few boxes too..... Here are the contents of one of the shelves, there might, or might-not be some blu-rays in there, I think it's mostly DVDs from that shelf.... not sure. I grabbed some blu-rays to set up the screen and adjust the projector settings though. (WOW that's a bad picture... sorry)

Behind the black-out cloth (and eventually velvet curtains) I have foam-insulation boards blocking out the windows...... you can see the writing etc... but each side actually has a coat of white paint on them, so when you look from the street, they look like white blinds are drawn.....

What they look like from the ground-level

LIGHTS OUT.... (another crappy picture though)

When my speaker wire gets here, and I find out how/where I will mount my surrounds, I'll try to get more pictures.

MORE TO COME.......

I think its safe to say that you should work for the Home and Garden Network (HGTV) as make your own show with renovating people's Home Theatre setup.

The show would be called:
Beta Man Pimps Your HT!

Your setup honestly is one of the best I've seen to date. Of course its still in construction stage, but in my mind the finish product looks outstanding!

It doesn't hold a candle to many set-ups I've seen.....

Still on the "to-do" list (although some may just never get done )

1) Seating

2) Rope lights

3) HVAC run from 2nd to third floor

4) accoustical panelling

5) new "Theater" carpet

6) Light control (it has a dimmer, but I want something with more options)

7) NEW EVERYTHING.... because it never ends

Are you going to get IR switches so you can control them from your remote?

Looking good Beta!

The seats on the riser, are they going to be the same style of chair?

What are you going to do with rope lights? walkway?

That's not really a priority for me...... honestly, I turn things on/off manually quite often..... I hate leaving things like my PS3 or AVR on "standby" so I always get up to turn off the actual switch anyways..... I just want a control panel mounted near the seating location, probably on that wall......

Here are the seats I'm getting.....

Will probably get 2 for the front and 2 for the riser...... should fit perfectly.

I may just get two for the riser, and then get a futon (yuck) for the front-row, so it's a little more cozy.... haven't decided yet, but this (so far) is the style of chair I like..... very authentic, cup holder, simple design, CHEAP, and something I'm able to get into the opening I have!!!!!

I had to adjust where my hands were to get my SACD player up the stairs, because it's so narrow....... I'd love a nice leather love-seat etc... but it just won't happen unfortunately

The rope lights, are going to go under the lip of the riser, around the whole thing..... and then I'm going to add a hand-rail (need it to be up to code anyways) going up the stairs, so I'll use a "C" shaped hand-rail (backwards though) and run rope lights inside it, so the hand-rail going up the stairs is illuminated......

I still need to make a step for the riser too..... it's 12 inches tall

Directly behind the center speaker is an access door to a crawl space .... *you can see one behind the movies, and there is one on the right-hand side wall if you're looking at the screen, that you can see in other pictures.... I painted the access doors black*

Basically I'm going to feed the wires into the crawl space behind the screen........ CRAWL around through the crawl space to the right, drill into that 'box' that is in front of the window, which actually opens up for storage etc, and drill through that into the next crawl space, Feed the wires UP AND OVER the bathroom ceiling, which is on the right also, then just drill down, and drop them into that storage area room that has the projector in it.... and run them inside that room, behind the seating area, out the other wall (that already has an access area cut out to feed the power cord and HDMI for the projector) and VOILA...... (pardon my French) I'll have the three front speakers wired and ready to go......

THIS is why I got an extra 150' of speaker wire!!!!!!!!!!

Looking good. You've really got me considering theater chairs for my room. Although I'm probably going to go with these.

I really need to quit looking in on your thread, it keeps costing me money.
