Collecting films on home video is so hard. It's always a question of what's enough...how much am I REALLY going to watch this film in the future...and what are the really great films in my collection.

I've had to reevaluate my collection as of late. I always ask this question whenever I rearrange my collection of blu rays and DVDs; if I was stuck on an island forever, which films could I absolutely not live without?

In the end, I always come back around to maybe twenty films. It always changes my perception when I go out and think about buying flicks...

...especially when you have a young kid. No time anymore...

Thanks guys! The sad thing is, by the end of July I anticipate I will be at around 900. There are about 40 releases per month I want to buy in the next 4 months, plus the remaining few titles from my wishlist I will inevitably pick up.

I need more space

Where did you get those shelves @ Qaith? They look pretty big and good enough for my needs. LOL :-D

Even though I don't buy many media a month... I need more shelving space... some of my stuff sits on a the closet shelf... :-( My DS & the few PSP games just sit on built-a-cube-rack-like-thing and my other DVDs are in the closet... don't have too much room... :-(

i haven't seen like 99% of the movies in the criterion so i gotta hunt down the dvd versions to rent or BR and watch them because i dont like blind buying unless i hear really good things from non critics, i dont like critics, most are pretentious douche bags who cant enjoy popcorn flicks /rant

i wouldnt mind some suggestions from users here though, most of you seem to have really good taste

I just started collecting blu rays around December 09.
So I've racked up about 120 within the past 4 months or so.

Top shelf is Criterion dvds, followed by every current Criterion blu.

I noticed you had them in order of release date if you're intending to do so toy story 2 came out before monsters Inc.

Thankz! I put them as I though they came out in order. Didn't checked anything. Just how I thought the order was. Changing them tonight :-D

I don't have a lot sealed. I find ways around the packaging to keep them in Mint Condition. Sometimes I buy them because they are cheap and want to replace my DVDs. Sometimes somebody I know rents them and I buy it and don't see them for a while. LOL :-D Oh well.... someday I'll get around to see them all!
Out of those I have only the following are still sealed

Casino Royale

Crank 1

Live Free Die Hard (Bought this way back in 07 on the BOGO free) kept it sealed because I thought they were going to re-release the uncut version. Never opened it since.)

District 9 (Yes still sealed.) I rented it when it came out. Love it and bought it. Haven't gone around to seeing it again. Awesome movie.

Family Guy: SSSDS. I was given a DVD copy of this. Saw the DVD and then bought the BD. Never opened it. Maybe sometime...

Interview With A Vampire. Not in the mood to watch it.

The Mask. Haven't felt in the mood to watch it.

Polar Express. Got it at Target on Item Not Found. Watched the DVD version before I bought this... didn't watched it again. Sealed

Quantum of Solace - Recently got this. Not my favorite Bond movie but decent. Haven't wanted to watch it.

Speed - Watched it too many times by my 5-Star Double disc DVD. Not in mood yet.

Transformers ROTF - Not in mood... When will I be in the mood for this, who knows :-D

Troy - Sealed. Think got this dirt cheap. Forgot how. Seen on TV too many times. A bit long at times. Good movie though.

Twister - Sealed. Haven't felt in the mood to watch this in a long time.

Transporter - Sealed

Meet The Robinsons - Watched it for my Bday. Then less than a Week I got my BD from Disney. Really fast :-D Sealed

TS1/TS2 - Watched my Girlfriend's copy. Mine are still sealed :-D

Look Sealed but are not:

AVP Boxset. Same as TF&TF Trilogy. Taped it to keep cover in Mint Condition.

The Fast & The Furious Trilogy: Looks sealed but I opened it. Stupid sticker for the free ticket for F&F residue stayed on the covered. Carefully taped the plastic on the inside of the box. Protects it from dust. :-D

The Ultimate Matrix Collection: Carefully opened the box and taped the plastic to the inside of the box. Especially since it's black, it would be hard to keep clean.

The Night At the Museum 2: Open... same thing as TF&TF Trilogy/Matrix Trilogy

Resident Evil Trilogy - Same as TF&TF Trilogy/Matrix Trilogy

Spiderman Trilogy - Same as Resident Evil Trilogy

X-Men Trilogy - Same as Spiderman Trilogy
